A beautiful building with lots of history and grounds. Plenty of parking around the site. Nice outdoor areas to sit and relax for a drink in the evening. We didn't eat in the restaurant. The place has so much potential but we left feeling a little disappointed. A young lad on the bar (didn't catch his name) was 2 nights into his new job, very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
The rooms are tired and could do with decorating/updating, our room had an odour of dogs, some dust and cobwebs around the bed. Toiletries were minimal. We didn't feel overly welcomed when we arrived. We completed pre online check-in prior to arrival and were asked to complete the same details again. When we checked out the desk was unmanned, however a member of staff nearby watched us drop off the key and completely ignored us as we left.
This was our 2nd 2 night stay at this lovely hotel, so relaxing with its beautiful views, seated around the pond with a pot of tea and cake then a glass of wine in the evening.
Corse Lawn House Hotel has all the charm of a bye gone era with its traditional decor and furnishings which appeals to us rather than the modern look.
Our room was spacious and clean with a very comfortable big bed, there was plenty of room for ourselfs and our 2 little dogs.
Sally on reception was very pleasant as were all the staff, our dogs especially liked the lady who served us breakfast as she treated them with a sausage. We liked that the dinner menu changed each evening a big thumbs up to the chef as his food was delicious.
There is a croquet Lawn and a helicopter pad for all you helicopter owners.
The car parking area has plenty of space.
We are already planning our next visit
We stayed on the Travelzoo offer of 2 nights DBB which was excellent value for money. We understood the hotel had been updated following new owners in Oct 2025. It had been done very well with exceptional choice of upholstery.
We were very impressed with the food for both the choice and quality and of course the chef. Everything was cooked and presented perfectly.
The staff were friendly and efficient. The most praise is given to the manager who run the hotel so efficiently with his staff working as a Team and not as individuals doing just one job. A pleasure to see. Our room was spotless and very comfortable and the availability and choice of coffees and teas with biscuits was excellent.
We will definitely rebook to explore the area more.
As a former regular, there’s plenty to celebrate about the spruced-up Corse Lawn Hotel. The reception area now feels much more open and inviting, complemented by new carpet and fresh décor. The restaurant has a rejuvenated look, and the outdoor spaces have been nicely enhanced—especially the new courtyard area at the back of the hotel. We also enjoyed the field walk; a small bench at the far end looking back towards the hotel would make a lovely addition. And we couldn’t miss the new roof! It’s great to see the updates have been done in true Corse Lawn style and we look forward, in time, to seeing the bedroom refurbs. Of course, there’s always more to do, but as they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day and the new owners have obviously worked extremely hard on the improvements. Dinner remained delicious and true to the high standards we’ve come to expect. Afternoon tea, sat outside, was a highlight. It was also lovely to see the hotel open all week now!
Some of our favourite little touches have disappeared—the homemade biscuits in the bedrooms, the petit-fours before dinner, the delicious mango & lime breakfast starter, the homemade jam for sale, and of course, the secret recipe breakfast sausages. But of course, things evolve, and new guests might not expect these extras. I’m sure the new owners will bring their own special highlights over time.
There are a few areas that could do with a tweak. The breakfast, while perfectly adequate, doesn’t match the exceptional standard set by the previous owner. Every element used to be five-star both in taste and preparation . We had several family gatherings here over the years and breakfast was always a talking point. We enjoyed a standard hotel breakfast this time around, but missed the high quality we were used to. It would also be lovely to see a vegetarian cooked breakfast option introduced. This need not be anything complicated—just swapping regular sausages for veggie ones and adding a few extra mushrooms and asparagus would do the trick nicely!
The staff seem to be mostly new faces. The new team were friendly and helpful, though they appeared stretched at times, juggling multiple roles, which sometimes led to longer waits outside the restaurant. We struggled to find someone to serve drinks in the bar area because staff were busy in the kitchen and restaurant. Eventually, another guest stuck his head around the kitchen door to get someone’s attention. Perhaps a bell or a camera system might help staff to know when there are guests in the bar area?
All in all, it was another lovely stay. This truly is our happy place, and it was wonderful to see that the essence of Corse Lawn remains unchanged. We wish the new owners all the best as they navigate these early changes—I’m confident the improvements will continue. I’d be curious to know the plans for the old swimming pool; an outdoor pool in summer would be fantastic! We said we could also envisage some upmarket glamping pods on the field by the tennis courts in the summer to cope with the many guests who will undoubtedly be wanting to stay!
Would we go back? Absolutely. Value for money? Very much so! Would we recommend it? Absolutely.
Peaceful location, beautiful old house gardens and surroundings. Very comfortable room, with a huge bed.
Excellent value for money.
It was like staying in an old style but beautiful hotel.
The room was huge, more like a suite.
Will definitely book again.
We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our visit, which made a real difference.
Breakfast was a particular highlight. It was beautifully presented and freshly cooked to order, which was so much nicer than the usual buffet-style offering. The quality of the food was excellent and set us up perfectly for the day.
The downstairs areas have clearly been recently renovated and are looking very smart, modern and well maintained. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting.
Our bedroom was large, spotlessly clean and had a very comfortable bed, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The only area that could do with some attention is the bedroom décor, which is starting to look a little dated, and the television could benefit from an upgrade. However, these were only minor points and certainly did not detract from what was otherwise a lovely stay.
Overall, a very pleasant hotel with excellent service, comfortable accommodation and a fantastic breakfast. We would happily stay again.
First impressions upon arrival at the hotel were that it's a little bit shabby (externally certainly). And whilst the bedroom could have done with a lick of paint and some TLC, the bed was HUGE and very comfortable. A particularly silly little annoyance though was the provision of toiletries - which were minimal (and certainly insufficient), however we requested more of these from reception and they were then provided. The Bistro and Bar area were pleasant enough and the outdoor courtyard is a very nice space and all looks brand new. Service was excellent (Kris I think was the bartender's name). We took dinner in the Restaurant and were surprised by how good the food was. Our expectations were certainly exceeded. Breakfast was nothing short of magnificent. A small buffer selection of juices, cereals, yoghurt/compote and extensive pastries - all supplemented by a hot main from an a la carte menu. My wife had kippers - a rare treat and something infrequently seen offered anywhere else.
In summary, this was an exceptionally good value for money experience and we would stay at this hotel again if in the area.
The room was amazing especially the bathroom
Nothing
Location is beautiful, food gorgeous, and a great menu to choose from. Staff friendly and helpful.
Nothing to complain about
I thought the whole experience was brilliant. Staff.....service.....food....all excellent. And the room was huge.
Only thing was tv was really small but not a deal breaker.
Lovely hotel, massive room and very comfortable bed. Welcome was perfect and check in was simple. Car park was great, the restaurant offered a good selection of dishes and did not disappoint, waiter described one of the starters and got it spot on. Really nice atmosphere and relaxed.
The bathroom let the room down a little, bath was lovely, but shower really does need updating. Overall didn’t spoil my stay and know the hotel is under new management, so may have a bit of an update planned.
Lovely hotel, really friendly helpful staff. Great value.
Corse Lawn House Hotel is set in a beautiful area of England and ideal for visiting a wide area of lovely countryside, including the Malvern Hills, Brecon Beacons and Wye Valley. The hotel offers spacious period rooms and was clean and well maintained, with large safe parking. The staff are exceptional. Friendly, helpful and skilful in their respective jobs. A major plus for the hotel is the reasonably priced food. We have stayed twice at the hotel and every meal was good, made from obviously well sourced ingredients by a skilful chef. Bottom line, you will struggle to find a better hotel of its type in the area.
Quirky hotel with excellent staff and a really good restaurant.
We took the whole hotel for a weekend event, it is going through a refurbishment with I think recent new owners. The whole downstairs has been redecorated and is very nice. The bedrooms still need to be done but the rooms are large and when completed will also be very nice. Refurbishing a hotel must be a very expensive operation so it needs to be done "as you go" We had breakfast and evening meal both of which were good our bed was comfortable a little soft I expected back ache but was surprised with a comfortable nights sleep and no aches and pains. Overall good with the staff helpful and wanting the best for the guests.
Lovely old style presentation and great grounds. Delightful service, hot plates in dining room - so welcome - excellent food although menu in evening was a little too 'heavy' (could do with a few lighter options) and comfortable surroundings to have a relaxing refreshment. Room/bed was very clean, comfortable and reasonably equipped with kettle/Nespresso, iron, fan and trouser press. Bathroom was very tired but due to be replaced soon. Pool not in operation but could eb in due course. A bit tired presently but being reinvigorated so will be 5 stars very soon.
This could have been a really nice experience. Room big, bathroom large too. Very nice garden and courtyard around the hotel building, even a big pond. Pretty clean and lots of little luxuries (bath robe etc.). HOWEVER: the double bed consisted of two single mattresses that were pushed together and these were REALLY soft and soggy - we could even feel the springs in our back. This resulted in a bad sleeping experience. The shower was disappointing too. Really low water pressure and not warm at all. This is really below standard for such a nice hotel. Bed and shower are the essential things that they should have got right. When we mentioned it the next morning, they said "we're aware of it and are currently working our way through the modernisation of the rooms". This still isn't good enough for people visiting NOW. Breakfast was nice - a good choice of cereal, continental options and warm choices (fry-up, scrambled eggs with salmon, Eggs Benedict, porridge etc. etc.). I would come here again IF they sorted the mattresses and showers out. In the current state, however, I would not choose this establishment.
