The hotel was tucked away, which allowed me to have a relaxing break. It was lovely to hear the birdsong, that I remembered from a childhood. Priceless.
A couple of negatives, that unfortunately can't be altered due to the fabric of the hotel. The steep staircase from reception to my room. The main door connecting from the mini landing to some of the rooms, would be extremely noisy, when closing. Either it was other guests, who didn't have any consideration for others or the door mechanism would make the door close forcefully.
A nice welcome from the receptionist.
Oh dear ..where do i start.. Bathroom was awful, flooring was make piece lino, dirty around toilet, radiator was hanging and filthy.
Door didn't even shut properly.
Took ages for warm water...in the end didn't bother.
Shelf was dirty, cobwebs and spiders shows that cleaning was not done prior to us entering room.
We didn't bother with shower ...just wanted to leave and go.
Bedroom,shoddy...headboard not tightened up with parts missing.
Windows not even cleaned..
Yes we paid £54 but come on ...from the appearance overhaul of the hotel defo needs updating.
Last note when checking out can see why receptionist was not there..
ie..saves asking...'how was your room'
We do live in area an love supporting local businesses but...not this one.
Location was good for what I was doing
More detail to the mug left for tea/ coffee, marks left in mug from previous use.some areas of bathroom/shower area needs looking at .table and side tale sticky.
It was lovely and quiet ...I think we were the only ones there.
We couldn't get any hot water from the sink tap. - but no other problems

What started off finding one thing wrong ended being a whole load of things.Base of bed was different heights put together, Complimentary toiletries was a sachet of shampoo with your towel,Stains on carpets,Headboard not even fastened to the bed just put behind so your head didn’t even touch it even it had the forks still attached they were sideways on,The wood tops of the dresser and bedside tables were all fully scratched and marked,Cobwebs on the pole next to the curtain tops,Sink taps absolutely filthy underneath the taps,Water didn’t stay in the sink with the plug in,The toilet brush filthy and the toilet seat attachments were all rusty but the toilet looked clean,The flooring in the bathroom just looked like it had been shoved down as some parts came up the skirting boards as not been trimmed and wasn’t even put down on the floor straight,As you stepped out the shower there was clear open view glass window so anyone could see you. I have taken loads of pictures to back all this up.
A lovely location and I suspect it could look lovely for a wedding venue .
Bed was lovely and comfortable with good pillows !
Everything was dated and the cleanliness wasn’t the best cobwebs on the ceiling and behind the bed was some sock and another item , shower didn’t work well , as it was only one night we coped!

Standard of room and particularly bathroom pretty bad - rusty broken rubbish bin, marked furniture, hole in skirting and no sealant replacement, dirty walls and tiles, loo paper encrusted loo cleaner, no smell of any cleaning products being used, curtains don’t fit window, steep stairs with fire door at too dangerous, television didn’t work,

Quite dated inside- although I feel reflected in the price. - incredibly hot but we were experiencing a heatwave.
