Enjoyed the location and the pub accommodation.
Pros:

Great food and friendly accommodating staff. Bed was comfy. Perfect spot for a night for anyone walking the local Ridgeway trail which is what we were doing. There is no shop in the village but there is a bakers (closed Tuesdays) and post office does a cake stall.

Cons:

The hot water was on an emersion heater system so had to be a bit careful with usage.

Worth every penny!
Pros:

Beautiful old pub in the English countryside, very close to the Ridgeway and a lot of historic sites. Rooms were very comfy, the inn had lovely food and drink and the village was as picturesque as you can get. Really the standout though were the staff who were incredibly helpful and friendly and made it a great stay.

Helpful staff
Pros:

Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Large car park. We loved that the family room had a partly closed off & separate area for the children’s beds, with smart TVs in both parts of the room. No noise from the pub below.

Cons:

Unfortunately the room was really hot (it was a hot day/night), but the lack of air conditioning made it uncomfortable, even with fans.

It took a long time for breakfast to be prepared and be brought to the table & they got 2 of the 4 orders slightly wrong.

Value for money
Pros:

It’s an old property, needs a bit of repairs, showers was tied with a cable tie to hold it.

We visited Ashbury on our way to Cotswold, plenty of parking, a pub at the ground level, good beers.

Cons:

A bit outdated, needs renovation.

Cons:

The menu was limited and served all day. We met friends for lunch and had a full lunch. In the evening we just wanted a smaller meal but sandwiches were not available in the evening and there was nowhere else in the village to eat.

Detached owners, dated hotel
Pros:

There are some positives:
- some of the staff are very friendly
- breakfast is very good. Sufficient flexbility if you want to order specific stuff
- ok restaurant
- free parking
- nice environment.

Cons:

The owner (if they are the owners?) are detached. They don't receive you with warmth.
The hotel looks "tired": shower, walls.... need freshening up.

My dad had a heart attack while he stayed in the hotel. One of the staff (the concierge I think) was worried. The owner never informed how we were (afterwards). Really disappointed by this.

Pros:

Gemütlicher Pub mit gutem Essen und sehr freundlichem Personal. Zimmer war sehr groß und sauber und mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht
