Not having a go just trying to help preserve a local boozer
See above whoops
Exactly what we needed, a clean room nearby to Whitby and Goathland. The staff member who was working when we checked in was really polite and helpful. It was nice and quiet and we had a lovely stay.
Location. Pub. Staff.
Generator running all night. Beer barrels being moved after midnight.
Easy to find pub at the top of the main road in Sleights. Warm welcome to a clean and comfortable room and a very nice overnight stay. Good value for money.
It would be great if there was an option for breakfast in the morning - but there is a village shop a little way down the road that is useful.
Personeel was heel goed. De kamer en badkamer waren niet schoon. We zullen hier niet terugkomen of aanbevelen.
Schoonmaken!!!
Staff were friendly and welcoming.
The pub and accommodation is very tired and in places dirty. Doors etc. Just needed a wipe down.
It was explained to us that they plan to spruce the place up which is recommended.
It's cases lovely little place with lots of potential.
Give it some love guys.
Location and room size great
Room 2
Room was a bit bit unloved
Bin and radiator needed a clean
Tie back on window damaged
Broken coat hangers
Shower took a long time to warm up
Friendly staff
No wifi and very thin pillows, the bedroom door didn’t fit properly,no plug in the sink, you could only watch television by sitting on the bed but metal headboard and the pillows were very thin so very uncomfortable, noise from ladies toilet until they closed, sides in the bedroom very sticky
Had evening meal in the pub which was very good and staff was very friendly and helpful
The pub was nice and we had a lovely evening meal. We had wished they did a breakfast option too for in the morning
They didn’t do a breakfast so it took us a while to find somewhere near that did. It was very very basic
Lovely friendly pub, open fire so warm and cosy. Staff are really welcoming and very easy to get on with. We love it here, plenty of walks and places to eat, so it’s a good place to grab food, have a pint and get your head down.
Nothing
Didn’t have it. Left too early.
It was in need of a coat of paint.
Staff very good
Beds not very comfy.
The room was passable. I found the beds comfortable. Our stay was OK but should have
been a lot better. You need to have someone to check the rooms every day.
The three nights we spent, not one person came and checked our room to see if we needed anything
I when to the bar several times to get teabags. The towels needed changing after showers.
Also I think breakfast should be offered.
Nothing.
This was a last minute booking for a room the same night. On arrival we were greeted by the owner who informed us that there would be no food tonight because the chef was off and that they did not do breakfasts. Not a good start. The room was very basic but as we were tired after a hard day we couldn't face looking for an alternative. Wifi information was posted on the safety notice on the back of the room door but did not work on both our mobile phones when tried. The room was dirty with surfaces being sticky. Two panes of window glass had cracks. In all a very poor experience and one which I cannot recommend. I will not be returning.
Excellent location in Sleights near Whitby, great base to explore the north York moors, we was visiting to see the wintery weather. Staff member was kind and helpful and the food was great.
you get what you pay for room was only £43 a night for 2 people
Some advice I have for the property owner, room could do with a refresh lick of paint, new higher bed frame (it was a bit low) maybe a new mattress, the sheets were ok but the mattress a little thin and springy as it’s old, bathroom door didn’t shut fully or lock a quick easy fix with a new door locking bolt, I’m sure something could be bodged up to sort this tbh like a wooden latch inside the door.
Heating wasn’t adequate for the cold weather due to rather drafty single glazed windows, these could do with an upgrade to modern double glazing (although it was an unusually cold spell for the area).
A higher standard of cleaning between people staying would be ideal, especially the inside of the shower (limescale and water drop marks) countertops had dust on them, a proper hoover out and we did find a sweets wrapper obviously missed by the cleaner. Not enough to affect your stay at all just general household dirt you’d get but it is slightly noticeable on closer inspections of surfaces etc.
