Unfortunately, from the moment I checked in until the end of my stay, the experience was filled with one issue after another.
My first issue occurred during check-in. I had booked a King Bed room, yet I was initially assigned a Twin Bed room. The reception staff even confirmed that my reservation was indeed for a King Bed. But when entering the room its a twin bedded room. I had to wait approximately 30 minutes before a suitable room was made available.
When I was finally given my room, I received two key cards, but one of them did not work.
Upon entering the room, I discovered that the in-room safety deposit box was faulty. I informed the staff before leaving for Mega Mall and requested that it be repaired while I was out. When I returned, I specifically asked the reception whether it had been fixed and was assured that it had. However, upon going back to my room, I found that the safe still could not be locked.
The problems did not end there. The bedside charging port was not functioning, making it inconvenient to charge my devices. The bathroom had an unpleasant odour that appeared to be coming from the drainage system, and the toilet door made loud creaking noises every time it was opened or closed, as though it was about to come off its hinges. These are basic maintenance issues that should have been identified and rectified long before guests encounter them. The wifi is patheically slow.
To make matters worse, after experiencing all of these issues, I requested just one additional bath towel. Instead of showing any empathy or making a small gesture of goodwill after the numerous inconveniences I had already faced, the staff informed me that I would be charged IDR 50,000 for the extra towel. It was not merely the charge that was disappointing, but the complete lack of understanding or remorse shown.
Overall, the hotel appears to be poorly maintained, and my experience reflects a lack of attention to both the condition of the property and guest satisfaction. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Harris Hotel Batam Center to others.

Location was excellent. Staff was very polite and helpful. Room was big and bed was comfortable. A bit rundown though, but compensated by good value for money. Breakfast was very good. Dinner too. Enjoyed the stay. Celebrated my birthday at the hotel dinning room.

Had a good stay in Harris hotel Batam Center. Friendly and helpful staff, especially Vano from front desk. Helped my family with enquiries. The breakfast provided was satisfactory.

We stayed at Harris Batam Centre for our 3D2N cycling outing. Superb location next to the international ferry terminal (just 100m walking distance and partly sheltered). I just needed to push my road bike after getting out the terminal to check in at the hotel lobby. Staff was friendly and helpful to store my bike in the secure luggage storage and retrieved it for me at 5am for my pre-dawn rides over the 2 mornings. There is Batam Mega Mall just opposite the hotel (walking distance around 75m) offering a wide range of retail, F&B and also included a mega supermarket. This hotel makes a good base for cycling outing. Day 1 ride was to Nongsa Loop where the resorts hotels were located. Day 2 ride was to Barelang Bridges.

Overall, we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay because the staff were helpful, friendly and engaging. One of them who manned the reception on overnight shift actually noticed the brand of my road bike and did some checking on the local prices of this brand in Indonesia and bothered to strike up a convo with me when I returned from my first ride.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help. The location was convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions, restaurants, and public transport. The facilities were excellent, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. I truly enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. I look forward to staying here again in the future.
