I recently stayed at Harris Hotel Batam Centre and while the property itself is starting to show its age, the exceptional service truly saved the experience.

The Good:
From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming. Jojo at the front desk was very friendly, taking the time to explain my room type and apply my ASR member discount. I arrived earlier than the check-in time, but the team made the wait comfortable. I even had a nice chat with Mr. Jo, the Front Office Manager, about the ASR app and the other hotels under the Ascot group.

A special shoutout goes to Mr. Immanuel, the Duty Manager. I had internet issues on my first night, and instead of bothering the night staff, I reported it in the morning. Mr. Immanuel was extremely helpful and efficient; he managed to move me to another room with a strong connection just in time for my online meeting. The Housekeeping team also kept the room spotless throughout my stay, and the Security team were always friendly and helpful.

The Not-So-Good:
The hotel definitely needs some TLC. The rooms are a bit dated, and it might be time for a major refurbishment. I noticed the shower glass door was scratching the floor, which could be a safety hazard. The swimming pool is quite small and also looks old. However, my main concern is the uneven lobby tiles, which could be dangerous for elderly guests and children. I hope management looks into this soon.

Overall:
Despite the maintenance issues, I had a satisfying stay. The staff are the real asset here, going above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and solve problems quickly. If you value great service over brand-new facilities, this is a solid choice.

Would I return? Yes, mostly because of the team here.

Excellent location. Next to Batam Centre ferry terminal. Opposite Megamall. Very accessible. Though it's a hotel with basic amenities, room is clean, vibrant & reasonable space. Only downside is I booked for a non smoking room but the room, especially toilet smell of cigarette. Staff was informed & came quite fast with air freshener. Unfortunately, the toilet smell of cigarette again at night. Guess it's the air vent issues. Basic Breakfast variety but sufficient for us. Staff are friendly & service oriented. Worth a stay for a short relax trip.

Great service with a smile by the GROs Trestha and Atika. Trestha were especially exceptional as she informed us by phone that our room is ready earlier than the stated time. All staff at Harris Batam Center were very friendly and sociable. The doormen were always there to greet us, open the door, or help to open our car door and help with the luggages. Near to Batam Mall and there's even a shuttle service to go there. Will not hesitate to stay here again.
