Road trip overnight stopoff in Taupo
Pros:

Good location close to shops and restaurants, nice view of lake from the window. Great shower.

Cons:

Check in process: Despite pre paying for room and doing their online check in, providing credit card details, on arrival a photo id was required and $250 taken from my credit card, the $250 to be refunded after checkout and being satisfied that we hadn't stolen or damaged anything. fealt a bit insulting really. We have struck this overseas, although rare, but never before in New Zealand.

The best motel we've been to in Taupo.We'll always come back to the Suncourt from now on.
Pros:

Welcoming kindly people at reception; fabulous view over the lake; excellent room (with 2 armchairs), comfy bed, good aircon, balcony (with table and chairs), no traffic noise, great shower water pressure. The location is excellent - we left the car and walked into town and along the lakefront.

Location was excellent for all our needs and easy walk across the road to the lake. Room had a view of the lake

Cons:

Think when booking it would be advisable to tell people to reserve table for dinner should they wish to. We were not aware that they had a restaurant and then we couldn't get a table until very late, had we known ahead of time we could have booked. A wee heads up is always appreciated

Overpriced and under provided
Pros:

Not much. staff were great but room was terrible for the price severe condensation on windows. Restaurant also very ordinary and overpriced. Would not return or recommend.

Cons:

We had a tiny overpriced room. Our friends a few rooms down were paying the same rate as us but had a much bigger room.
Value for money was very poor. Ripoff
