The location is amazing, beachfront. The lobby staff are welcominng. Doris made the breakfast, it was delicious and she was so nice and great hospitality
There’s a perfect balance here of nature, peace, and that charming small-town La Jolla feel. The property has plenty of quiet little spots to slow down, unwind, and practice your yoga or meditation techniques or simply go for really nice walks!
And you’re only minutes away from the La Jolla shoreline, where you can practically have the seals at your feet!
The new furniture is also a great addition. It has an old-world charm that fits beautifully with the property’s Balinese-inspired décor and gives the hotel a unique sense of character and place.
My favorite part was sitting on their rooftop and catching the sunset!! Stunning! See pics!
Most importantly, the staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming. Ask for Edwin, the GM, if you want some great local tips—he and Norma are the best!
Pantai Inn is a charming stay right on the La Jolla coast. The entire hotel has a unique Balinese-inspired atmosphere, with warm wooden furniture, paintings and statues, maintained greenery, and a beach-house feel throughout. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a nice view of the ocean.
The beach is right across the street from the hotel, so you can go see the sea lions anytime. There are also great views of the ocean from the breakfast area as well as the roof deck.
The staff was very helpful throughout the stay, especially Norma when we checked in. The house golf cart was also very convenient.
A beautiful boutique hotel for anyone wanting a relaxed, oceanfront beach-house in La Jolla.
Unfortunately, our experience at Pantai Inn was extremely disappointing and far below what we expected from a hotel of this category and price.
We booked our stay for three guests: myself, my pregnant wife, and our 4-year-old daughter. When we arrived, we were given a room with only one full-size bed — not even a queen — for all three of us.
We immediately explained that this sleeping arrangement was clearly inadequate for a family of three. What was even more shocking was the solution offered by the hotel: they gave us a second room for me alone in a completely separate building across the street, while my pregnant wife and 4-year-old daughter were expected to sleep by themselves in the original room.
Instead of providing our family with an appropriate room, their solution was literally to separate our family into two different buildings.
This was particularly frustrating because we had booked the hotel expecting a comfortable, high-quality stay in La Jolla. A hotel accepting a reservation for three guests should provide an appropriate sleeping arrangement or clearly disclose the limitations before the guest arrives.
The location is excellent, but unfortunately that does not compensate for such a poor experience and such an unreasonable handling of the situation.
For the price and reputation of Pantai Inn, we expected significantly better service, communication, and common sense.
I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it to families based on our experience.

Very unique and quiet. The location is very walkable with many interesting shops and eateries nearby. The rooftop deck has amazing sunset views.
Parking is tight but doable. Breakfast is just average.
