The staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was great. Location was good, short walk into Cartmel.
The carpets in the hall way and bedroom were filthy and generally it didn’t feel clean. The bar area carpets on Sunday morning had not seen a vacuum from Saturday night when we had breakfast at 9am - the overall feel was dirty which is a shame as it was a friendly place to stay.
Location views and relaxed environment
All good
Stunning location and really comfortable room with beautiful view, well-equipped with great facilities; staff really helpful in enabling secure lock-up of our tandem.
There are no faults or failings of Uplands Inn - it's a great place to stay with ample parking for car users.
Just a shame on the occasion we were staying, we arrived (exhausted after long cycle in heatwave) on a 'bingo night' where usual menu unavailable. Option was to walk back to town centre for evening dining.
Good
Clean, spacious and comfortable room. Very comfortable bed. Good storage. TV and tea/ coffee making facilities. Good sized bathroom with bath and separate shower. Lovely dining room with amazing views. Plenty of parking. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Walkable into village of Cartmel but further than expected and probably won't feel like it after a meal or drink in the village. Food is adequate for a pub but do not expect restaurant quality. Accommodation is a little overpriced.
We stayed for 4 nights here as we’d wanted to be based in Cartmel and then explore the area and small towns too. An excellent location and we had chosen the ‘Kent’ room that looked as though it had a great outlook and it certainly did & and an extremely comfortable queen size bed. Good size bathroom too.
We enjoyed breakfasts here and had dinner twice. Nothing rushed and all freshly prepared. The hotel is family run and it showed, a welcoming atmosphere and friendly people.
The surrounding countryside is simply stunning.
Fab stay at the Uplands. Staff very friendly and great with our dog. Room was very clean and spacious.
On our return visit to Uplands, we were once again made to feel at home with a warm welcome from Sue, Al, Dylan, Lillian and Denise. We stayed in Leven which is spacious, comfy and has a superb view over the bay.
Breakfasts were delicious as were the three meals we ate there.
Good atmosphere with locals visiting each evening and we were lucky with the weather having 3 lovely days plus a Lake District special on the Thursday when we headed indoors to the Motor Museum on Sue's recommendation.. a marvellous place.
Hope to return and see them all again.
Friendly and great service
Not long enough
Our room was really nice
Nothing
A group of 13 of us go away for a weekend every year and this time we booked the Uplands Inn. The rooms are very comfortable and a nice breakfast is provided. The outstanding view from the rooms and the terrace is special. We were very lucky with the weather and despite a questionable weather forecast, we were able to sit out to enjoy a drink in the sunshine both Friday and Saturday, before walking down into Cartmel for more drinks and dinner. Cartmel is about a 10/15 minute walk down and a little longer coming back up the hill.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Good fun and certainly recommended.
The breakfast was excellent and cooked to order. Used local produce. Would have been nice to have some local honey to have on the toast.
The evening meal was good.i would have preferred a lighter meal. A salad offering would have been a nice touch.
Wonderful.
Comfortable and exceptionally clean rooms. Perfect location for the southern lakes. Ate in the restaurant, nothing fancy but cooked to perfection with good ingredients- delicious. Breakfast wonderful. Then there's the staff: welcoming, friendly and helpful. Basically, this is a gem.
Fantastic stay, staff were happy and friendly and super helpful…. The view from the Kent room was stunning too!
Great location, great host and great breakfasts. We will definitely be returning
