Everything! The setting, the comfy old-fashioned relaxed atmosphere, the helpfulness of staff, the food.
We were catching the ferry from
Holyhead to Dublin the next day so the hotel was in a great location. The restaurant and bar (when it was attended) were good.
The host ensured that we knew the hotel was “the Fawlty Towers” of Holyhead so we didn’t expect everything to be perfect. However, she was quite abrupt and was very “stressed out”. Her staff were the opposite and had more of a casual, almost “who cares” approach. The door on our room didn’t lock easily / normally but we were shown that it had to be locked “the British way” with handle up (?). The shower had to be run for over 10 minutes in the morning before the water heated up (but it did heat up!!)
It had parking on site
The hotel / Bar was not the cleanest the shower had mould around it
There was any food availble in the evening
And i had to make numerous requests for a vat invoice
Everything. The staff and owners were lovely, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. My room was immaculate with decent WIFI with very comfortable bed and pillows. Plenty of off street parking and a great welcome. Only had one meal there which was absolutely delicious (garlic prawns with salad). I will definitely be going back. If you want a criticism - it is too cheap for what it is!
A guest deciding that having a cigarette in their room at 1.45am was a good plan and setting off the fire alarms was deeply irritating. But you can’t blame the hotel for that and at least we knew the fire system was working.
Nice old inn. Food was delicious and the couple who run it very helpful.
The shower was difficult to get temperatures right, the slightest bump of handle made very hot water, just too touchy to get normal shower temps.
Food was great. Bar staff exceptional 👌
Stunning location. Incredible staff
dichtbij de veerboot. mooi stukje kustpad vanaf het hotel
matige verlichting in de kamer
Food, staff and en-suite
Pillows were to for us
Good choice for breakfast
Beds were low and not confortable
Our room was above the entertainment lounge so very noisy
Lovely location lively views
The room which we had twice (one night before our ferry to lreland and one night when we returned before driving home to Essex) was clean and functional and about right for the price we paid.
The bed. I heard more boings and groans from that bed which had clearly seen better days. The bed linen was clean and fresh but the bed itself left a lot to be desired.
1st day breakfast was very good. Nicely cooked.
The service was slow due to low staff numbers.
2nd day we sat in the restaurant with a number of other tables while 1 poor member of staff tried to take orders and cook the meals themself. It was a complete disaster. We left and had a breakfast in a cafe.
