Lovely hotel the staff go the extra mile to make your experience enjoyable. A family run business with friendly staff. Fresh flowers throughout the building are a lovely touch. The building is well maintained and clean.

As someone who travels globally for work and is also an avid traveler, I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world. Experiences like this remind me that the most memorable places aren’t always the most luxurious. They’re the ones that make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive.

If you’re looking for a polished, modern hotel with every amenity, this may not be the place for you. But if you want to experience Quito beyond the typical tourist experience, you’ll appreciate what this hotel offers.

The hotel is in a charming older home on a quiet residential street, yet it’s within walking distance of wonderful restaurants, grocery stores, and local attractions. I loved exploring the neighborhood on foot and then returning to a place that felt peaceful and welcoming.

What really makes this hotel special is its character. It never felt like I was staying in a commercial hotel. It felt like I was staying in someone’s home, and that’s exactly what made it memorable.

The staff deserves special recognition, especially Karla. She was genuinely kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. She made me feel less like a guest and more like a friend.

One of the things I appreciated most was the opportunity to experience everyday life in Quito instead of being tucked away in a tourist bubble. That, to me, is what travel is about.

This hotel has something that can’t be manufactured, authenticity. It has charm, warmth, and heart. When I return to Quito, I won’t be looking for something different. I’ll be coming back here because it truly felt like a home away from home.

Very nice hotel

I find the place safe and staff particularly Patricio was very helpful and goes out his way to help us with our needs.

Mooi gebouw, vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel, zeer goed bed, ruime kamer, ruime badkamer, mooie binnentuin, mooie zitkamer/lobby, goede locatie in het 'nieuwe' deel van Quito, dichtbij t mooie park El Ejido.

This is a lovely boutique hotel with a peaceful, beautifully maintained garden at the back. One of the highlights was spotting a hummingbird visiting the flowers while I relaxed in the garden. The property feels very much like a welcoming home rather than just a hotel, with beautiful fresh roses displayed throughout, adding a special touch.

Patricio made me feel genuinely welcome and well looked after from the moment I arrived. He was always available with helpful advice and recommendations, and he even makes a delicious omelette for breakfast! The level of service was excellent throughout my stay.

The accommodation is comfortable, homely, and full of thoughtful details that show how much care has gone into creating a pleasant guest experience. It's also conveniently located, with restaurants just a short Uber ride away, and all of the staff were friendly and eager to help and I would happily stay again.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a warm, relaxing, and personal place to stay.

Fantastic stay at La Cartuja. Karla made sure we were well looked after with every amenity needed (clothes washing, taxi, drinks). The hotel was clean and fresh and the beds were comfy. Breakfast was nice and light, perfect for a day of travelling. The food was freshly cooked and had options of how to have your eggs. Brilliant stay, thank you Karla.

Great family hotel with 17 rooms total. Warm vibes always. Patricio at the front desk made us feel at home.

Accommodation is older but kept clean and comfortable. Patrice who mans the reception, is a helpful and friendly character. He makes the atmosphere warm & welcome. Beds are comfy.

I stayed at La Cartuja as part of an Intrepid Travel trip.
The hotel is located in a sare atea, in what used to be the UK embassy building!
The hotel has all you need: good breakfast (eggs, fruit, juice,yogurt), free water refill, spotless clean, large rooms with very comfortable bed, nice common area near the reception, a lovely internal patio.
Carla and the staff speaks very good English, they are extremely kind and very helpful!
I hope to be back one day
