Tired.
Pros:

Location - close to town centre. Clean. The bar man who greeted us was helpful and friendly. Quiet..

Cons:

Parking was sketchy. The room was very tired. The bed was extremely old and creaky - any movements approaching 'energetic' would have destroyed it. We felt it needed some upgrading and a bit of tlc.

Welcome break in Blairgowrie!
Pros:

Lovely welcome, clean well equipped room, comfortable beds, perfect temperature. Location in town centre is convenient and car parking easy. Just across the road is a walkway along the river through park with a play area so our dog was also happy here.

Cons:

Not keen on the cocktail bar but to many visitors it is an asset.

Lovely staff, excellent location good for a stop over 😊
Pros:

The history of the building. Location for a beautiful river walk and local restaurants and takeaways. Tesco store and fuel.

Cons:

Bowl of jelly beans was a nice touch but not hygienic. Property was old and had charm and original features but was tired. Only a cooked breakfast and nothing for alternatives ie allergies or choice.

Unsafe Communication Breakdown for Solo Female Travelers
Pros:

I booked a stay at the Victoria Hotel, but due to severe flight delays, flooding, and road accidents on the route, my journey was heavily delayed. At 12:02 AM, as soon as I got phone signal, I messaged and attempted to call the hotel to update them on my situation.

Because their official check-in policy strictly ends at 11:00 PM, I was actively trying to reach someone to confirm the doors would actually be open. I received zero response to my message and zero answer to my calls.

As a solo female traveler stranded late at night in an unfamiliar area with no confirmed late check-in, I could not risk arriving past 1:00 AM to a locked, unstaffed building. Having been left in complete radio silence, I had no choice but to scramble to find alternative, safe accommodation late at night.

When I later requested a refund, management refused, claiming staff had waited inside until 1:30 AM. Waiting inside a locked hotel without answering messages or picking up the phone to confirm staff presence is useless to a guest. It is unreasonable and unsafe to expect a guest to travel late at night on a gamble without written or verbal confirmation that they won't be locked out.

A complete failure of basic hotel communication that left a guest unsafe. I would strongly advise solo travelers to look elsewhere for properties with reliable communication.

Dingy hotel in great location
Pros:

Central location, next to river and town centre, handy for all amenities, staff were friendly for the little time we seen them, was easy to find

Cons:

The room was tiny with no outlook at all, the fridge that was in a cupboard froze our milk, the window was cracked. Considering we were staying for 5 nights they could have given us a better room

Clean, Friendly, Good Value
Pros:

Used the hotel as a stopover from an active outdoor holiday before returning home. The room was basic, clean, comfortable bed, warm shower and clean , fluffy towels, kettle, coffee/tea, biscuits.
Breakfast was optional, booked on arrival, £10, set breakfast (no choice) but great value, promptly served. Staff are very friendly. Recommended highly.

Great stay, friendly hosts
Pros:

Loved the look of the hotel , cosy bar and cosy bedrooms

Cons:

Only downside was the hotel didn’t open until check in time at 4pm. , arrived on a motorbike in heavy rain half an hour early and was locked. Luckily someone came out and we were able to get in, the owner did let us stay inside until the room was ready though .

Excellent hotel.
Pros:

The location was excellent. I was greeted and informed of the 'rules'. The room and building were good, clean and adequately furnished. To put that into context. I was using the room as a place to sleep overnight and I was more than happy with the facilities. I was informed upon arrival if I wished a breakfast I should book it beforehand the previous day for a price of £10-ish. I didn't take them up on the offer. Instead I walked the short distance to the local Wetherspoon's where I could have bought a 'Full Scottish' for two pounds less. The free Wi-Fi was good. I would happily book here again. For those who require a modern corporate hotel, with 'key cards' then don't come here. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to all who wish to visit this area.

Cons:

Nothing. All was good. I did initially struggle to enter the building because having turned the key the door wouldn't open until I figured out that another handle needed to be turned to allow ingress. A very minor inconvenience.
