Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish.

We booked a One Bedroom Ocean View Apartment to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday, expecting a relaxing and memorable stay. Instead, it was one disappointment after another.

The apartment was configured incorrectly. The ocean-view bedroom was set up with two single beds, while the queen bed was in the city-view bedroom. We specifically paid for an ocean-view apartment so we could enjoy the view from our bedroom, yet that wasn’t possible unless we used the second bedroom.

After checking out, we were then charged an additional housekeeping fee because we had used the second bedroom and what appeared to be the main bathroom. Had the apartment been set up correctly in the first place, there would have been no reason to access the second bedroom. The second bed was never slept in—we simply sat on it to enjoy the ocean view we had paid for.

The extra charge was never clearly explained when booking or at check-in. It only came to light afterwards, which felt very misleading. Important fees should be clearly disclosed before guests commit to a booking, not hidden away in fine print or left for guests to discover after they leave.

The apartment itself was also very tired and outdated. The furnishings and décor were old, and it certainly did not reflect the standard we expected from the photos or the price we paid.

Another disappointment was the pool access. We were surprised to find that you have to walk through the car park to get to the pool, which was inconvenient and not what we expected from a resort-style stay.

When I raised my concerns, the response was simply to quote the hotel’s policy rather than acknowledge that the apartment had been set up incorrectly or make any genuine attempt to resolve the issue.

This experience completely overshadowed what should have been a special celebration.

Not what I expected
Pros:

Location and view from balcony.

Cons:

Apartment decor and fittings were very dated, nowhere near as depicted by photos on booking.com. We were in apartment 482 on 16th floor, facing north west, so main bedroom was very cold as no sunshine entered the room and ensuite window had permanent opening allowing cold air in constantly. Cleaning needs to be more thorough. Only very basic provisions supplied for short period. If you stay longer than 3 days byo soap!

Fantastic view, did not need a car, close to everything. Will book again.
Pros:

The view from Unit 41 was fantastic. Beach from one verandah and around the corner the length of Old Burleigh Road. Layout of unit was excellent. We were very comfortable.

Cons:

For the price, a coffee machine would have been nice and for the length of stay and price dishwasher tabs, detergent, shampoo etc was frugal.

A perfect unit for the marathon. Thanks
Pros:

Amazing location. We were in Broadbeach for the marathon and the apartment was on the 3rd floor with perfect views and access. Foxtel tv was a plus also so we could watch World Cup.

Cons:

We were meant to be much higher up (level 17) but unit next door was being renovated so we were moved to 3rd floor after loud drilling. A bit old and rusty but amazing views. No discount offered.
