Loved the hotel.
Pros:

This hotel is quaint, historic and very comfortable. The staff is superb. We had dinner there and the food and service were superb. Literally walk across the street to Hampton Court Palace and overlooking the Thames.

It was a great place for one night, we would stay there again.
Pros:

Beautful historical building, nicely furnished rooms named after famous persons from English history and culture, great restaurant with delicious breakfast that was included in our room rate. Friendly and helpful staff at the front desk and in the restaurant, great location across the street from Hampton Court Palace. We got complimentary cream tea!

Cons:

There was no air conditioner, just a fan in the room, so we had to leave the windows open, and traffic on the adjacent major road was rather loud.

Beautiful hotel opposite Hampton Court Palace along side the Thames. Lovely Thames terrace bar and restaurant. We had the most amazing luxurious room.

Cons:

Nothing, all staff were exceptional and so friendly and went out of their way to make our stay memorable and perfect.

No air con in the rooms when the weather was 32 degrees made it very uncomfortable and all that was provided was a cheap
Pros:

Great location

Cons:

The staff on check in were very disappointing. Later in the day when we returned the other lady was much better but the first member of staff was very unhelpful and quite rude

The worst stay I've ever had
Pros:

The only thing to like was that Hampton Court was opposite the hotel

Cons:

Absolutely everything. I planned this trip as a special treat for my mother who just lost my father and was turning 75 alone. She's always wanted to go, well in advance I called the hotel to book a special table for dinner and to make sure it was fit for her being disabled.
On arrival, the dinner reservations that were confirmed, weren't confirmed. So I had to rebook an alternative through them. Reminding them my mother needed accessibility, it was her birthday and my disabled brother needed special care. When we got to the restaurant, it wasn't even booked! The front of house was so incredibly passive aggressive and nasty, it ruined my mother's meal for her.
The room was end of the street not part of the hotel and up steep stairs.
You could not open any of the windows and there was no Aircon, it was like a greenhouse and we spent more time trying to get away from the room, and there was absolutely nowhere to go.
The room was on the busiest main road all night into the very early morning, the noise was unfathomable honestly! We barely slept and were so exhausted the next day.
The mattress was poor and old, with springs gone and dips from multiple bodies over the years.
To top it all off, the room was expensive and filthy. There were body fluid stains on the furniture, the windows were disgusting, dust everywhere, body hair around the bathroom, honestly it was as if they'd remade the bed and gave us the key. The fridge had half drunk milk and bottles in there. "Complimentary" thanks.
The "free bar" consisted of a communal gin bottle that many other guests took a lick at and in the room. This room for one night, considered a "feature" cost us £640. It's honestly disgusting? It's taken me a while to scale back the absolute disappointment.

Great hotel but shockingly bad restaurant
Pros:

Great hotel. Lovely staff. Very comfy.

Cons:

The 4 star Mitre has a brasserie. You’d think that the very basic and strangely limited food it serves would be edible. Think again.
Crab crumpets: over-spicy mayo with a bit of something that was supposed to be crab mixed in it but you couldn’t tell or taste it as it was 50% mayo. Served on a very cold and old UNCOOKED/ UNTOASTED crumpet! When we pointed out the crumpet was raw and ice cold we were told we could order something else. So this must be the norm. Truly disgusting. Sent back. Calamari: these were rubber bullets, rock hard on the outside, coated in dark, overcooked batter instead of being dipped in flour. And they were cold. However, even these two dishes did not prepare us for the worst fish and chips in history. This was a sliver of fish fried in so much batter that the inside of the batter was actually uncooked. The ratio of fish to batter was about 1 to 5. See the photos. The shots of the cream coloured stuff on the inside of the shell is not bits of fish it’s all raw batter. The chips were industrial frozen whose insides were weirdly tasteless mush. The very sweet waiter was apologetic. He took the crumpet and fish off the bill. He also offered us a dessert on the house so we ordered the rhubarb tart with custard. Oh my god! This was an inedible horror which must have been made by a 5 year old…from a different planet. See the photos. The much too thick “pastry” had been frozen after cooking so was soggy and tasteless. The 4 miniscule bits of rhubarb consisted of 2 things. First, apparently raw dark red to almost black rhubarb which must have been soaked in sugar and dark red food colouring (why?) to offset the crunch and the sourness. Second, some bright gel/syrup which tasted of the sugary food colouring syrup they squirt over ice cream cones from an ice cream van. And the “custard” in the tart was a minuscule amount of something which had zero taste. See the photos. Another worst dessert of all time.

Beautiful Hotel, Uncomfortable Stay
Pros:

The location, staff, food, and lovely historic ambience. Would definitely return but NOT in summer.

Cons:

Unfortunately, we were there during an early heatwave and our otherwise lovely room was not air conditioned. They provided a large, bladeless fan and opened windows but as the temperature barely dropped after the sun went down, the room was stifling. We were compelled to grab pillows from the lux bed and sleep on the floor, where it was more comfortable. To be fair, the floor was squeaky clean so there was no hesitation. We are living in a new world climate-wise; a property with a ‘luxury’ placard hanging next to the entrance should consider investing in retrofitting to confront the new reality. As it stands right now, I wouldn’t book again during the summer months, which is an unfortunate thing to say about a property situated literally at the gates of a major tourist attraction.

Needed a convenient base to visit Hampton Court Palace and the Mitre was perfect.
Pros:

Lovely room. The maze of hallways and stairs made it exciting to just find my room. A heat wave the day we visited but the portable AC made the room more than comfortable.

Cons:

Everything was great.

Perfect location perfect service.
Pros:

The level of service is what makes this hotel great.

Cons:

Our only constructive feedback would be to have a fridge in every room. We were in the Royal Mews room in the annex and there was no fridge. We did have our own cool box which we brought along that helped with this.

Lovely old building with great facilities
Pros:

Location was great as we were just over the road from Hampton Court Palace. We were concerned about the limited parking but we got a space and stayed in it for the lenght of our stay. The porter ran and controlled the parking and was very helpful. In fact all the staff were helpful. The room was a bit quirky as the floors slooped down but thats to be expected in a 400 year building. The facilites were good. We were close to the Royal Park and we walked around it and saw loads of deer.

Cons:

Personally I thought that the cooked breakfast could have been a bit more for the price we paid.
