Booking in dealt with efficiently and friendly hosts too. Room separate from the hotel but adjacent.
Pros:

The room was beautifully furnished, everything to hand. A lot of detail and thought had been put into the room. Very comfortable and quiet too, no noise from the bar and the outside eating area was busy but quiet.

Cons:

Nothing to report, it exceeded expectations.

Nice, Clean and Caring.
Pros:

The food, the ambience, the car park. The view (excluding the main road in front of the property) which surprisingly didn't deter us. We'd stay again.

Great place for a night - lovely breakfast
Pros:

The room was comfortable and very clean. We arrived early and had lunch, they forgot my husbands meal after we waited nearly an hour then took another 40mins to bring his! Not a great start. Blind in my mother in laws room was broken and couldn't open.

Glad we choose this hotel.

A GEM IN A HERITAGE VILLAGE
Pros:

I received a warm and professional welcome from the manager on arrival, which set a positive tone for my stay. Renovation and upgrading work was taking place in the pub and restaurant areas, and the manager apologised for the disruption, noting that the improvements should be completed the following week.

I was allocated Room 201, an end‑of‑corridor room that was spacious, quiet, and perfect for my needs. I slept well in a very comfortable bed. Because of the renovation work, the usual breakfast area was closed, but the manager thoughtfully provided fruit and snacks for guests, which was appreciated.

I raised a few housekeeping issues, and the manager was receptive and willing to address them. For me, this demonstrated a genuine commitment to improving the guest experience and maintaining high standards. He also proudly shared the plans for the new outdoor alfresco and garden areas, which are expected to be ready by mid‑April.

The Greyhound is located in a beautiful heritage village, with Carshalton Ponds, nature areas, museums, and a vibrant high street filled with cafés, restaurants, and bars. Transport links are excellent: buses run through the village to East Croydon for easy connections to Gatwick Airport, and both Carshalton (15 minutes’ walk) and Carshalton Beeches (25 minutes’ walk or a short bus ride) train stations are nearby.

Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would be happy to return. The manager even said he hoped I would — and I would gladly do so once the renovations are complete.

Cons:

Not been able to use the bar and restaurant which were closed for rennovation upgrade

Didn't stay because refurbishment ongoing
Pros:

Helpful staff

Cons:

We didn't stay there because when we arrived we found the hotel under major refurbishment and covered in scaffolding. There was no proper reception nor restaurant and breakfast was a few croissants on a tray. Fortunately the staff redirected to a sister hotel, The Dukes Head, a few miles away in Wallington. This has already been refurbished and everything there was excellent.
We recommend that you check out whether the refurb at the Greyhound has been completed before booking.
