Location and helpful and friendly staff
Soft beds
As a young single woman, I was given a room with no lock. The concierge offered no apology or explanation when I came to request a change of rooms and I didn't feel comfortable challenging him.
Location and the size of the room.
The showers, and the extremely hot rooms.
So nice to be able to have breakfast at 7am on a Sunday morning. It was very good as well.
It was very hot in room
Ideal central location; friendly staff; big room; functional bathroom.
I stayed during a heatwave. The room had very large windows, 90% of which would not open. With no aircon, it meant the room was so hot that sleep was almost impossible. However, such conditions are a rarity in Merthyr (!) and most of the time this would not be a problem.
Location and easy access to town
Our TV was only working 1 day after making a request but once it was switched off it lost signal again. Tap in the bathroom was loose
Good hotel. Excellent location for the centre of Merthyr Tydfil. Hotel was clean and friendly staff. Very good cooked breakfast. Nice to have tea and coffee facilities in the room too.
Rooms could do with a little refurb.
Room was airless and had an odour. Damp windows- visible at the top of the beds.
The room was found to be very large and cold upon entry. We asked for the heating to be turned on, but were told this was not possible as they would have to have turned it on for the whole of the hotel. The lady on reception however, offered to place a heater in our room, which upon return we found had been done and that the room was warm.
The hotel is outdated and in need of refurbishment, but we did manage to get a comfortable night's sleep.
Tea and coffee facilities were provided.
Overall a positive experience, even though the surroundings we stayed in were far from modern.
Great location and great value - Ideal for my stay - I have no complaints
All ok
The location was close to the train station
Request for ID or bank card when checking in...even though this wasnt mentioned when booking.
The noise from surrounding pubs until gone midnight/ no noise proofing and wouldnt move me to a different room due to only having suites left.
I asked for my case to be kept for an hour after check out, no details taken and case handed to me via different member of staff that never asked for any confirmation of who I was, just handed a case over.
Curtains were thin and let in the light.
