Great location overlooking the bay. Room was clean & had everything we needed. Bed was super comfortable. Staff were very friendly & helpful.
All was up to expectations.
Location was awesome, so nice.
The owners were very friendly and accommodating.
Close to the beach, a shame the rooms are at the back.
The bed was not great and room was the smallest and most expensive on our holiday.
Lovely, warm friendly welcome from the owners, Debbie and John. We arrived early via train and were able to go into our courtyard room early which was appreciated. It was comfortable, clean with a good shower and ideal for our two night stay. Perfect location with lovely views to the sea. I have coealics and emailed when booking to request gluten free items which were available, bread and cereal. Yoghurt, fruit, ham, boiled eggs and cheese were also available with plenty of coffee. Sufficient to have a good breakfast. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend.
..
It's too expesive comparing to it's own room condition and size.
Clean, comfy and great location

It was all good.

Fantastic location, extremely helpful and friendly staff
It's really tough to leave a low scoring review as John was such a welcoming host. This was booked on as part of our trip to NZ, so we didn't know what really to expect. Calling this hotel "boutique" is probably a bit far off, and the rooms in the courtyard are very budget like. I'm not sure what the rooms in the main house are like, but the rooms in the courtyard, I would advise on staying clear of. Great parking and location to the sea, but a very poor breakfast and rooms let this place down unfortunately.
Extremely helpful and friendly team, very comfortable room with everything I needed.
Absolutely fantastic, hotel was great, ideally located for our Whale watching trip. John, the owner was a great host, nothing was too much trouble.
It was a small comfortable, quiet unit with a lovely courtyard. The staff were friendly and professional. The bar, the cheese board and breakfast were great.

Location was good, walkable to downtown and to Kaikoura Encounters where we had booked some excursions.
We stayed in a deluxe courtyard room so cannot comment on the rooms that were in the main building. Calling the courtyard room deluxe and/or boutique is a massive stretch of the imagination. We've stayed in plenty of low, mid and high range accommodations and the deluxe room is on par with a roadside motor inn room. Tiny, paper thin walls, dingy shower stall. We were booked for two nights and left after the first night. I don't have a problem with staying in a one or two star room in a motor inn and paying accordingly. However, in this case, the room is not worth $NZD 336 per night.
Heerlijke kamer in het historic hotel zelf met uitzicht op zee en balkon.
Ontbijt is vrij basic.
Great room , great place. Not the services I would expect for 600 dollars plus s night.breakfast was continental. Bar was limited
