Categories

Cleanliness
6.4
Multiple reviews cite cleanliness problems (dirty dado rails, mold spots, rusty shower curtain rail, filthy breakfast-room windows and worn carpets), though some rooms were described as 'clean and tidy'. Overall cleanliness is a clear concern.
Service
8.2
Staff are frequently described as friendly and professional, but there are notable service issues (unaccommodating behaviour in some cases, bar closed early without notice, and room service not provided due to staff shortages).
Location
8.9
Location praised repeatedly: lovely grounds, quiet setting and convenient for Tenby and local attractions; green spaces and easy parking noted positively.
Room Quality
7.7
Rooms are generally comfortable with comfy beds and family-friendly extra space, but decor is dated and some bathrooms/furniture need modernising and maintenance.
Amenities
9.3
Pool, spa, jacuzzi and gym are consistently highlighted as excellent, clean and not overcrowded; spa areas are well regarded (though dog access and lack of disabled access are limitations).
Value for Money
7.5
Mixed perception: rooms and strong amenities add value, but several guests felt meals were overpriced and breakfast poor, tempering overall value.
Food and Beverage
6.6
Food is a common complaint: breakfast described as 'terrible' by multiple reviewers and evening meals seen as overpriced, though at least one review mentions very good food on a visit.
Overall Experience
7.8
Overall stays are generally enjoyable and relaxing due to location and amenities, but issues with cleanliness, dated decor, dining value, dog policy and occasional service shortfalls moderate the experience.

Limited due to our dog's restrictions.
Pros:

Our grand children very much enjoyed the spa facility, the pool was good and not too busy. Our rooms were clean and comfortable.

Cons:

The lack of facilities for our well behaved spaniel. The hotel is advertised as 'dog friendly", however dogs are not allowed in the lounge, bar or (as expected) the restaurant.

A comfortable, relaxing stay near great places to visit.
Pros:

Great location, the swimming facilities, the extra separate space in the room for the children! The beds were comfortable and the area was very quiet and relaxing.

Cons:

Some of the equipment in the hotel- eg in the swimming centre, and in the hotel room- needed fixing/better maintenance. The food was overpriced.

Pros:

The staff were very friendly, swimming pool facilities excellent, although temperature of water a little cool.
The room was adequate with comfy beds, myself and my daughter enjoyed our stay. However I do feel that more attention to detail required for cleaning. Dado rail woodwork really dirty, bathroom in need of a deep clean, shower curtain rail rusty, mold spots and cracked tiles.
Evening meal overpriced, breakfast terrible. The windows in breakfast room were absolutely filthy,
The carpets throughout need to be replaced. Whole place very dated and does not reflect a 4 star status at all, 3 at most

Cons:

Cleanliness, maintenance, food quality, banging doors

Comfortable stay in Lamphey. Staff were great but the hotel needs to rethink its dog policy.
Pros:

Lovely old house, nice grounds, comfortable rooms. Spa facility very good.

Cons:

Not really dog friendly. Our dog was allowed in a coach house room away from the main building but was not allowed in the hotel at all, not even the bar. This made breakfast awkward and we had to sit on the terrace ( which is used by smokers). Not a good option if it’s raining. Even coffee shops now allow dogs, so think the hotel needs to rethink this policy. Decor is comfortable but a bit tired.

Pros:

Lovely location, property looks beautiful from the outside. Nothing directly around but a short drive into Tenby or nearby towns.
Loved the pool and jacuzzi facilities, nice and quiet in the evening. Spa areas very clean.

Cons:

Property is very outdated. There was a musky old smell in the halls and room. Beds were comfortable but furniture and carpets was outdated.
Bathroom could also have done with modernising.
Room was however clean and tidy.

Nice pool and gym
Pros:

Nice hotel with spacious, quiet and comfortable rooms. Decent breakfast (by British standards) and restaurant. The pool, spa and gym are very good. The pool is just about long enough to do some lengths, and the gym is pretty large and air conditioned. The ruined medieval palace next door nakes fir a nice walk.

Cons:

There is no provision for disabled access. Not only is there no lift, but there are steps up and down everywhere including in corridors.

Decent location, pretty property with pool and gym
Pros:

Gym and pool, green spaces and convenient parking. Decent pool and fitness room

Cons:

Main hotel building/bar felt small/stuffy and overall, whilst there was a professional tone to the service, the experience somewhat lacking in "warmth".

Fab-u-lous!
Pros:

Room facilities were great. We really liked the hotel's approach to operating on a greener basis. Loved the spa. We all used the pool. Gorgeous location off the beaten track yet close enough to Tenby and other places of interest. Lovely and quiet which is exactly what we needed. We took our bikes with us and there was plenty of choice direct from the hotel.

Cons:

There was nothing we didn't like.

Pros:
