The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.
The location of the hotel is right in the heart of Canterbury, which is amazing.
The room that I stayed in was nice and cosy, and the breakfast options provided by the hotel were lovely.
There wasn't anything that I didn't like, about the hotel
ontzettend aardige en behulpzame medewerkers en geweldige locatie. het ontbijt was ook goed verzorgd.
alles was top!
Superb location. Friendly staff. Excellent historic building.
Location couldn’t be better. Nice comfortable room. Staff very helpful
Lots of stairs .
Chose Cathedral Gate Hotel because it was a location for the 1944 film 'A Canterbury Tale' one of my favourite films so could not resist a chance to stay there. Had a great stay thanks to the staff and the building reminding me of my life at The Blue Idol Quaker Meeting House. However, there are a lot of stairs and an uncovered roof terrace walkway so the building is NOT suitable for wheelchair users or other mobility impaired travellers. I stayed in Amity, a twin bed room with shower, toilet, phone, TV and a quirky view from the window. Amity is reached via the roof terrace and a lounge area so I appreciated having my suitcase taken to the room and help with it again when I left. Having breakfast (continental) delivered to my on the first morning felt quite decadent. Chose to use the dining area on the second morning. Beds and room comfy, breakfast plentiful, fresh and delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful. The Cathedral Gate Hotel is a great place for a weekend treat or longer Canterbury based holiday. The hotel is next to the Cathedral's main gate and above the Cathedral shop with bus station (one stop away from Canterbury East Station), shops, NatWest bank, restaurants (like Bill's = edible flower pot desert) and cafés (like Amorino gelato = famous rose flower shaped ice-cream cornets & pots) just a short walk. Glad I chose it.
La situació és excelent.
The location was perfect for being close to Canterbury Cathedral and St Augustine's Abbey.
There were places nearby to eat or get a coffee
The location is perfect, next door to the cathedral gate and in the centre of the town so easy walking distance to all the attractions, bars, restaurants and shops. The hotel staff were fantastic, from check-in to the breakfast. Always someone available on reception. The rooftop seating area looking out to the cathedral was a lovely surprise. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Canterbury. I am certainly going to return as my two days stay was not long enough to see everything I wanted.
Central location next to the cathedral. At the centre of the atmospheric city of Canterbury. Easy access to pubs and restaurants. Staff could not be more helpful. Guided us to join evensong at the Cathedral and advised on good restaurants.
A little hot in the heatwave but it will s an old building where A/C is not available/permissible.
