Locals
Bit dated. Our room was noisy from a fan constantly going in the kitchen. Rather expensive for the standard. Only one bedside light.
Atmospheric - my grandson loved
The smuggler info and stories
It could do with a refresh - starting to look a bit tired and shabby
I like the hotel’s proximity to the beach. They allowed us to use the parking space since we arrived early and the room was not available yet. The hotel is clean and well maintained. Staffs were approachable.
The knob to adjust the temperature of the shower was stuck and difficult to operate.
Great location. Lovely outside area.
The English breakfast
Sehr freundliches Personal, toller Blick und leckeres Essen im Restaurant
Jay,(breakfast king),Laura Turner(reception)Julia(head of housekeeping),Lilly,Milly, young man with glasses (waiting in the Orangery) were exemplary. LOCATION amazing.Breakfasf a triumph. LOTS of little nice touches e.g,sweets in room, rangecof teas, home made cookies.
Dinner in The Orangery was inedible..chicken escalopes were black..potato salad made with squashy potatoes..wexwere not charged..that's how bad it was.
Let's the hotel down..we had to drive intipo Broadstairs to eat..problems don't want to do that on a short break.
We attended the Margate Soul Weekender and had a fabulous stay at the Botany Bay Hotel. The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. We would like a special shout out to Kyle who transported my friends very heavy case upstairs and had a great sense of humour. Also to Toni who went out of her way to post 4 dresses back to me which I accidentally forgot and left in the wardrobe xx
Welcome at reception; all the hotel staff were super warm & helpful, very pet-friendly, and the location is perfect for beaches and walks. Clean & comfortable room with a small double and enough room for one and the dog bed. Great value breakfast with decent coffee!
The location of the room at the back of the hotel, where the window opened onto the flat roof full of seagulls. It was hot, so the window had to be opened - the dyson fan was welcome but unfortunately a bit noisy & ineffective. The option of some cooler bedding would be appreciated - maybe a separate sheet rather than just a blanket or duvet.
Jay produces an exemplary breakfast along with his well trained staff.
The location is stunning.
The room was fine with welcome extras such as sweets, georgous cookies, bottles of milk and an excellent array of teas/coffees..very generous.
Reception is exceptionally well run..thanks to Laura Turner, etc
Head of housekeeping,Julia is a treasure.
The Orangery, however, lets the hotel down.We had dinner there on Sunday,2nd.The chicken escalopes were black, too tough to cut.The potato salad made with mushy potatoesThey did not charge us ....... the meals were that bad.
We had to eat in Broadstairs the following night.
I doubt we'll return due to aforementioned problem despite the great staff within other parts of this establishment. A pity..
Staff were lovely
Food in restaurant was delicious
Breakfast was delicious
Bed was comfortable
Very isolated, would have liked a few more things around us, but that’s a personal choice
Clean just what we wanted
Need fridge in rooms . Breakfast could improve with Egg omelettes some more fresh fruits.
The bed and room were comfortable and the location was good.
I was in room 404 and I don't think the shower was working properly. All the hot and cold taps worked ok but I couldn't seem to produce hot water for having a shower. I was ok with that but a bit chilly under the shower! I mention this because if that room is booked out again by somebody else, they may be a bit more displeased!
Just a very short review to say that if you are ever in Broadstairs please stay at this wonderful hotel . The staff, the location and the food on offer are all exceptional. Thank you Botany Bay for a wonderful weekend stay.
