The Crags Hotel

Difficult to park as the main street outside was always busy, and the car park at the park is very small so only fits 3 cars.

The first room we were allocated was dirty and the shower didn’t work properly, it kept overheating and cutting out. We were then allocated a different room which was slightly better but it was also lacking in cleanliness. When we opened the en-suite bathroom door, we discovered two used towels hanging on the back of the door.
The shower head was brown, I had to scrub it with my nail brush to clean it before I could use it. The grab handle on the wall, above the bath, came away from the wall completely, which could have been much worse for an elderly person. The electric towel rail wasn’t fitted properly to the wall and was filthy, thick with dust. The light on the mirror flashed continuously, needing replaced. The toilet seat was loose and didn’t fit the toilet properly.
The kettle in the room was covered in dust. I had to wipe down a lot of the surfaces, it was obvious the room hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly in a long time. The bed sheets had stains on them. Sadly, I would not recommend staying here.

It felt more like a bar / restaurant than a hotel I had to walk past both to get to my room, this wasn’t an issue it was just unusual. The bathroom was in need of some TLC.

Abbiamo avuto una piccola disavventura che ci ha un po' deluso. Al mattino il mio compagno va nel supermercato di fronte e gli cade dalla tasca la chiave della stanza. Sicuramente qualcuno l' ha raccolta perché ripercorrendo esattamente il suo tragitto non l' abbiamo trovata, nemmeno chiedendo ai dipendenti del supermercato, che ripeto è letteralmente di fronte quindi non ha fatto molta strada. Sul portachiavi era indicato il nome della struttura quindi se qualcuno l'ha raccolta come pensiamo l'avrà poi sicuramente restituita in un secondo momento.
Nel frattempo abbiamo contattato il proprietario per spiegare l' accaduto e per scusarci. Se non che questo ci risponde che non ha una seconda chiave (cosa assurda) e che non sa quanto gli chiederà il fabbro e di lasciare quindi 25 sterline alla donna di servizio (lui non era presente). Ovviamente avevamo solo 30 sterline, non ci è stato dato nessun resto e nessuna ricevuta per la ricezione di questo denaro. Ovviamente è nato tutto da un nostro errore ma ritengo scorretto e maleducato il comportamento del proprietario, soprattutto dopo che la sera prima avevamo speso non poco per cenare nel suo stesso ristorante.

While my partner was walking out of room to go downstairs he cut his hand on the banister screws sticking out it!
Carpets were manky need a good clean
I wouldn’t even recommend this hotel to my worse enemy!

Room was at back of building, behind restaurant, so had to walk through diners to get on or out of building
Room not very clean, found several spiders and webs in the room, the mattress was hard and lumpy obviously old and worn, tv large but signal poor, bedside lamps were too large for space and hard to switch on especially in the dark

Of course it's obviously an old building and it could really do with a full refurbishmeant in the hall upstairs and bedrooms the bathroom did have mold in the shower but that's an easy fix there was a hole in the sheet on my bed but I am not bothered however the price for 1 night at £126 pound it's not worth it I would pay maybe £50-£70 a night but that's just my opinion I am not having a go on the hotel but with everything I have said I think it would be a very successful holtel/Indian restaurant thanks👍
