Hotel Nolda – Never Again. A Warning to Future Guests.

My fourth visit to St. Moritz, my first and definitely last stay at Hotel Nolda.

I booked and prepaid a Superior Double Room several months in advance. Three weeks before arrival, the hotel refused my cancellation request. Yet upon arrival, the room I had booked was unavailable. Instead, we were given a supposedly complimentary "upgrade" to an apartment that looked as if it had not been updated since 1983.

I never asked for an upgrade. I wanted the room I had booked and paid for.

The manager did not even bother to speak to us personally. Through the receptionist, she informed us that we could either accept the room or pay for the entire stay anyway. When I finally spoke to her the next morning, her attitude was arrogant, condescending and completely dismissive.

She also misrepresented her conversation with Booking.com, claiming that we had complained about the mountain view. I obtained the transcript, which clearly showed that this was not true.

No apology, no alternative room, no compensation, no attempt to resolve the situation. Booking.com eventually offered us a CHF 136.71 voucher at its own initiative. The hotel offered absolutely nothing.

On top of that, breakfast was extremely poor, and the bicycle storage area was unsecured during the day — unacceptable when travelling with expensive bicycles.

In my opinion, the manager's attitude has no place in the hospitality industry, particularly in a hotel with such history and tradition.

I have never experienced such dismissive treatment of paying guests. I intend to escalate the matter to the Swiss Travel Ombudsman.

**I strongly advise against staying at Hotel Nolda. Never again.**

Great hotel and stay in a picturesque location close to bus stops for town. Very friendly and staff
Pros:

Character hotel with a suberb location right next to a flowing river which was lovely. Short bus ride into the main town with stops within 1 or 2 min walk, so convenient. Hotel staff were very friendly and couldn't help enough with planning and gave us tips to go to Silsersee lake and Sils Maria and how to get there. Breakfast was decent too and rooms very spacious.

Cons:

There were strangely no plug points to charge mobiles by the beds or tables, but found one behind the TV which was akward. Also lack of bed side cabinets to keep things eg glasses, books, however, no a huge problem.
