Excellent - we had a really relaxing break - just what we needed
Pros:

Loved the ground floor superior cottage with kitchen and seating area. Loved people watching on the golf course. Very comfortable large bed and appreciated the cooling ceiling fans

Hotel could do better
Pros:

Good location, breakfast food was good

Cons:

Service at breakfast was inconsistent, had to ask for bowls, teapots, milk jugs and filling up of breakfast items. Coffee machine broken on one day and had to ask to fill it up. Poor service in the bar in the evening as no staff present at times. Whole hotel seemed to be lacking management or organisation, when questioned the answer was we need more staff!

Pros:

Friendly staff. Main reception and dining room nicely laid out and decorated. Lovely old buildings.

Cons:

No grab handles in bath/shower (husband slipped - had to get help to get him out of the bath, which was embarrasing), no electrical sockets by the bed (for charging mobiles, hearing aids etc), no fridge, miserable view from the bedroom window.

Poor selection of cereals, fruit, breads and pastries for breakfast, slow response to replenishing food and crockery when they ran out, only one dispenser for hot drinks (people queuing). The dinner menu was the same each night which made it more difficult to choose on our third night as it wasn't very extensive.

Cons:

We were very pleased with this hotel. Especially the staff we never met Karen who was our cleaner but the room was immaculately clean credit to you Karen and also the rest of the staff. Many thanks for a very enjoyable and peaceful stay.

Cottage room stay
Pros:

The accommodation was a cottage room with small kitchenette with dishwasher cooker, fridge freezer and well equipped. It had a living room/ dining room area with a small settee and 2 armchairs.Tv was wall mounted. The bedroom is separate with an additional TV also wall mounted and the bed was 2 singles put together. The bathroom had a shower over bath and toilet. We found the mattress very hard and if we stayed again would need to bring a mattress topper. The settee was very low and uncomfortable for an older visitor. There are French doors that open out but don't lock from inside as fire doors.

Cons:

As mentioned before, the mattress was hard and uncomfortable and the French doors didn't lock from inside as fire doors.

Shame about the food! Everything else was fine
Pros:

Very. Clean with helpful staff

Cons:

It seemed like the Kitchen struggled to keep up. Food took ages and just warm when served.
Pub grub standard. Seemed to be a lack of system.

A relaxing short stay in a tranquil location.
Pros:

Comfortable, quiet room in an annexe just across the drive from the main building. Beautiful location. Very friendly staff.

Cons:

The room could have been too hot, as the ceilings sloped into the roof; fortunately the weather was slightly cooler the day we visited. The room was at the top of a flight of stairs, with hardly any landing space, so it wouldn't have been ideal for anyone with mobility issues. There were, of course, downstairs rooms that could be requested. Food was nicely presented and well cooked, but just standard "pub food".

Pros:

Lovely location and I was impressed by the complex

Cons:

Just a couple of things. The room was very hot due to the heat wave and although a fan was provided it didn't help too much. On our first breakfast we were booked in for 9.15 but there was no fruit salad left which was disappointing.
