Beautiful modern hotel. Wonderful stuff and amazing views across the Duoro. Large comfortable rooms. We particularly enjoyed the Raiva restaurant. Plenty of sun loungers at pool.
Food was overall great but a bit over priced, particularly for lunch at the pool bar. Also worth keeping in mind that where the hotel is on the hillside to get to pool at top is 80+ steps or quite a slow lift (didn’t detract from our stay but worth keeping in mind if you have a pram).

Nuestra experiencia en Octant Douro ha sido única.
La atención personalizada desde el mismo momento de la reserva es excepcional. Cualquier tipo de pequeño detalle está a su alcance. Dejaron preparado un ramo de flores y un tentempié variado con bebidas, a petición propia, que cumplieron sobremanera las expectativas. La gestión de reservas para comidas / cenas, tratamientos de spa o actividades externas bien se merece un 10.
El trato fue muy cercano. La recogida y traslado de maletas se hizo directamente desde el coche a la habitación. Aunque llegamos a altas horas de la noche, nos dieron la bienvenida con vino regional y nos enseñaron las instalaciones. Impecables. Un remanso de paz. Finalmente nos mostraron nuestra habitación. Una suite con piscina climatizada. La vista hacia el valle del Duero no tiene precio. Es indescriptible la sensación de bañarse en la piscina con tal escenario, tanto de día como de noche. Aislado. Con los sonidos de la naturaleza.
El desayuno y la comida en el restaurante À Terra han sido fantásticas. Comer prácticamente a orilla de río fue único. La cena en el restaurante Raiva (en guía Michelin) fue una experiencia culinaria magnífica. Gran variedad y calidad de productos locales tratados de forma exquisita.
La carta de tratamientos de spa / welness es amplia. Nos decantamos por una exfoliación corporal completa con un masaje posterior. Te transporta a otro universo. Disponen de piscina interior, baño turco, sauna y gimnasio cuidadosamente organizados. Así como dos picinas exteriores de uso las 24h. Reservamos una travesía por el río en el barco Octant I, pudiendo disfrutarlo solo para nosotros. Manejado por Fernanda y su hijo. Nos explicaron e hicieron el trayecto muy ameno. Comenzó a llover en mitad del viaje y eso le confirió un aurea melancólica. No nos arruinó la experiencia.
Dar las gracias al equipo que nos atendió. Escapada totalmente excepcional y recomendable.
We’re at the end of a one night stay following a few days in Porto. The hotel location is stunning and tranquil and the architecture is lovely. The food at breakfast, dinner and lunch was also great, with moments of excellence. (And some quirks, such as the burger and chips that turned out to be burger and crisps). We appreciated the fresh fruit brought to our room and the sleep kit.
The main issue here is the service/amenities which seem to be absent in places. There’s no bar except the top storey pool bar and this was shut all day on Saturday which was a shame. We texted reception as advised on arrival but it was impossible to get a drink or food brought to the pool area from the restaurant. Another guest had managed to get a room service basket brought to the pool but I’m not sure how they did that. There’s a beautiful balcony lounge area overlooking the river where we waited to check in yesterday and are waiting for a couple of hours now for our taxi after checking out. Each time it’s been a pain to get a drink here - we have to walk down to the restaurant and carry the drinks back up to the balcony lounge area in paper/plastic cups. Not very atmospheric - it feels like we’re at the airport already! If this issue could bring sorted it would feel more like a five star hotel.
