It is improved. It is very clean. Close to train station, bus stop and supermarket.
I liked the location, close to Eisenacher Straße U-Bahn and Penny. Also, they clean your room daily, which is appreciated.
The bed was really comfy and i slept really well.
No tv in the room and the wi-fi was really bad. Almost unusable (room 114).
My experience at this hostel was unacceptable, but the most serious part was the way I was spoken to by a member of staff at reception.
During a conversation about my room, cleanliness issues, and the lack of secure storage for my belongings, the receptionist personally insulted me by saying that I was “crazy” and that I had “psychological problems.” This is not only rude and unprofessional; it is a deeply harmful and discriminatory way to speak to any guest.
Using mental health as an insult is unacceptable. A person may actually be dealing with mental health difficulties, trauma, anxiety, depression, or another psychological condition. That does not make them less worthy of respect, less entitled to safe accommodation, or less entitled to raise a legitimate concern as a paying customer. Suggesting that someone has “psychological problems” simply because they are asking for a clean bed, accurate information, and secure storage reinforces stigma against people with mental health conditions. It sends the message that people who may struggle psychologically are unreasonable, problematic, or not welcome. That is a very serious issue, especially in a hospitality environment where staff are expected to treat guests with dignity, care, and basic respect.
From an equality and anti-discrimination perspective, this type of language is extremely concerning. Mental health should never be weaponised by staff against a guest. In Germany and across Europe, respect for human dignity and protection from discrimination are fundamental principles. A hostel employee should never use someone’s perceived mental state as a way to silence them, humiliate them, or avoid dealing with a valid complaint.
Beyond this, the rest of my stay was also extremely disappointing.
First, I was assigned to a room where, once I entered, it appeared that the bed given to me was already occupied. That room had lockers where guests could store their belongings, which was important to me.
U nollendorfplatz.
Freundlich und unkompliziert. Ruhig
Sehr einfach, aber Preis/Leistung absolut in Ordnung
We return here for the great staff and wonderful spaces- not hallway noise- proof at all but we do not mind!
Love it
Unproblematische Buchung; reibungslose Abwicklung
Parkplatz vorhanden gegen Aufpreis, Unkomplizierte Abwicklung, Freundliches Personal
Strong WiFi, free luggage storage, very good housekeeping & Reception, plus working elevator! Check-in was painless. The communal kitchen is ample but needs tighter management. Not a bad place but...👇🏿
The irony: Happy Hotel has a lot of sad/smelly/inconsiderate drifters (who seem only to facetime, smoke cigarettes, chew audibly). Depressing vibes.
