Extremely good location while also in a quiet neighborhood.
Pros:

I loved that the room was filled with basically just a bed. It sometimes bothers me when hotel rooms have too much unnecessary furniture. The location was excellent. We were visiting the Gotland Game Conference, and all the event venues were really close to the hotel, while it was still in a quiet part of the neighborhood (no party noises in the evening). The breakfast was a regular, solid hotel breakfast. The staff was very nice! I also loved the contactless check-in and check-out outside work hours.

Cons:

The front door of the building broke. It didn't close properly in the evening. I tried to fix it for 10 minutes, but it just would not close (even though it tried to automatically lock itself every few seconds with a loud noise). The room on the top floor was quite warm and stuffy. But there was a small fan, which certainly helped. One of the windopanes (an outer one) was already shattered when I checked in. It didn't bother me that much, but it was a bit unexpected.

Et vanlig problem i handicaprom: Baderommet OK, men godstolen er så lave at det for mange er umulig å reise seg opp fra. Tips: høyere stoler med solide armlener.

Trivsamt hotell med ett väldigt fint läge
Pros:

Hotellet är väldigt tyst och lugnt och har så sköna sängar.
Toppenfin frukost och vänlig och hjälpsam personal.

Cons:

Det är inte alls så gott om parkering som hotellet skriver i reklamen. Det finns tre dyra platser bakom hotellet man kan boka, annars är det platser runt hotellet som man får plats på om man har tur.

Everything aside from the room was great!
Pros:

This was a getaway birthday weekend for me, and I took some time choosing the hotel. Location wise, this property is absolutely perfect - right inside the inner walls of the city. Despite this, there was plenty of street parking (note, this may not be the case in high season).

The hotel, true to its name is an old castle that has been converted to a hotel. This is both charming with the stone steps, the thick window ledges and odd layouts .. but it does make it a challenge with the rooms, but I will get to that.

The girl on checkin was friendly, personable and helpful. Note though the reception is not manned 24/7, but there is a number you can call if you need to. The front door is also locked in the evenings which is a good thing, but the area (and the whole of Visby actually) felt very safe.

We had room 310 which is on the second floor from the reception. Due to the small window and thick walls, the room is very dark. The hotel has not helped the situation by choosing very dark furniture as well including a very awkwardly placed free-standing wardrobe that housed the minifridge. The beds, while comfortable, separate in the middle which is a running frustration with many swedish hotels.
The room gains points by having a mini fridge with 2 complimentary waters, a writing desk and there were no problems with cleanliness. The darkness and cramped layout though made the room feel a bit depressing - we didn't spend a whole lot of time in there though.

The bathroom is small, but nicely tiled. Yet another hotel that has spent money on a bathroom renovation but chosen crappy quality Mora shower and tap fittings. Despite this, the shower had good pressure.

The breakfast is served in the basement (or outside where there are some tables and a really cozy area) and was superb. Coffee was good - fantastic musli and there was a good selection of pretty much everything (even smoked salmon which you don't get at Scandic these days).

I cannot finish the review without mentioning the charming black cat that you can find around the grounds. It doesn't belong to the hotel, but it has its favorite places to sleep.

All the staff we encountered were friendly and I would say the value for money was reasonable. I would without a doubt stay here again, but would probably pay the extra for a deluxe room.
