The garden and pool area
Room was in need of modernising , no smart tv , and tv reception was v poor , also room was too hot and smelt of damp
Traditional property quietly placed off the main road, unaffected by the noise of traffic.
Classically decorated, very clean and comfortable all round. The addition of a small swimming pool and beautiful garden terrace was lovely, especially when relaxing in the evening with a glass of wine.
Staff unbelievably friendly and helpful. Ted especially, a true asset to the team, doing anything he can to ensure everybody received the best possible experience. As well as, Hayley on the breakfast shift in the morning. Her energy and joyfulness was truly the best way to be greeted in the morning.
The food and beverage side of the hotel was a small let down. The evening menu had been reduced (understandably due to the demand) and the options basic. Other guests seemed to be enjoying their evening meals and so I cannot comment further. I decided to venture out, and with the help from Ted I found a lovely eatery just down the road, who the hotel contacted directed and booked for me offering a gracious 20% discount for being a guest.
Breakfast I have to say could have been better. Again, basic offerings but exactly what guests require so can’t exactly fault it. The let down was that despite only offering a couple of cooked breakfast options, the poached egg was extremely overdone and the hash brown soggy. I’d hope to think this was just an off day for the chef and I’d be willing to give it another go. Ultimately it wasn’t the end of the world. I met the chef shortly after and it became evident she was also manning reception and looking after god knows what else. A classic example of a small business saving on staff costs, which to no fault of their own is a real shame. Thank you UK Government for making hospitality so difficult to run nowadays!
Everything it’s amazing value for money,we dined slept and used the pool love to come back fabulous room 23
Television too small
Disappointing. One tiny sausage, small
Portions, just average
Busy road, bar wasn’t open, no staff around after 8 pm ( we had to go out to find food), barman rolled his eyes when we asked for ice on the drink, no power sockets either side of the bed for charging etc. We had to ask to move rooms as the noise through the doorway into the next room allowed us to hear the neighbours conversations! Also no one to say goodbye to us.
Everything,,
Nothing,,
The staff were very welcoming, and the location was ideal especially having the use of the outside swimming pool (ideal after a long journey). The breakfast was lovely ,varied choice of every possible option and the waiting time for the cooked option was minimal.excellent .
On arrival we were informed of a 60 children "Proms" event being held at the hotel which was lovely to watch the varied choice of transport used ,but it did mean that any evening meal would have had to been room service. This was not a problem as we chose to eat elswhere however it would have been helpful to have been told of this event when booking as it would have provided us with a choice. This is a lovely hotel and i will definately stay there again... and soon, Thank you very much for a lovely stay
very nice staff, and nice pool and breakfast
it was a lovely room but the headboard was peeling and worn with bits of the material coming off
Fresh fruit and natural yogurt at breakfast
Mistakenly thought I’d be staying in a characterful old rectory .
Pity the pool is not available before 9am as it does not really allow for a morning swim before breakfast and checkout
The garden
Very outdated, rubbish shower, only left one towel between 2 people and there was no air conditioning.
The fire alarm went off at 2.30am, there were no staff on site to deal with the problem. All guests were outside the premises until 3.45 am.
Very nice stay at the old rectory hotel. Extremely hot weather lovely outside garden seating area with lovely pool. 😍
Super fresh home cooked breakfast, compliments to the breakfast team.
Nothing to dislike, very relaxed and chilled atmosphere particularly on the hottest day ever recorded in the UK!
Like the atmosphere, garden and breakfast
Rooma and dining room need an upgrade.
The quiet and the cleanliness
Nothing
Lovely hotel, very pleasant and helpful staff.
Lovely english breakfast, and plenty to chose in cereals and drinks.
Lovely grounds and nice heated outdoor pool.
Nothing..
We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Rectory Hotel. We had two king sized ensuite rooms, one with a walk in shower and one with a bath and shower over. The beds were comfortable and had nice wardrobes and drawers.
The staff we met were absolutely wonderful; the two Gills and Jess were a delight. They really made us feel very welcome.
Beautiful gardens with scented flowers around the entrance to the reception. The pool was clean with plenty of seating on the poolside but the water was a little on the cool side even though it is meant to be heated but it is early in the year. The car park is spacious and right near the reception area.
The entrance to the hotel is off a very fast moving road. The drive could benefit from being wider to make it safer to turn onto the car park.
Near to both Norwich and the coast.
Clean.
Very friendly staff.
Good breakfast.
Swimming pool a nice ‘extra’
Tv is incredibly small in the room. I couldn’t even see the picture with my glasses on.
Location a little disappointing as not actually in a village, not a place where you could have an evening stroll.
Outside area and pool
No dining room offering a proper meal in the evening
