Pros:

We stayed for just 1 night with my mom and my 2-year old child. The location was pieceful and quiet. It had a lot of character. The room we stayed in (superior) was really spacious. We asked for an extra bed and still had a lot of space left. No noise or disturbance at all. Everything was really well. The breakfast included into the price is continental only (for the cooked breakfast you nweed to pay £10 pp extra) but it had good choise of things: pastry, bread, salami, cheese, yoghurts, cereals and wheetabix, hard boiled eggs, coffeee, juice, fruits, everything was good quality. Breakfast room was also beautiful. The stay with a 2-year old was easy. You do need a car as the location is remote. There were enough parking spaces for all cars. The value was great. One thing to keep in mind, there is no elevator. But staff helped us to carry the suitcase to the 1st floor.

Cons:

nothing in particular

Hotel with history that would benefit from a little attention to cleaning
Pros:

Staff were great and really friendly. The size of the two rooms was bigger than most.

Cons:

A low or mediocre score Seems unfair based on my other high scores for staff etc but when we work up the next morning (in the daylight) there were nasty stains under the loo and hairs dried behind the radiator on the floor. Overall the place is good and I’d hope that after we brought it to their attention, they had a bit of a deep clean.

The room did the job, but it was not worth the money paid for with the lack of service/food
Pros:

Spacious room and very quiet area. Dinner was tasty but not available for the times advertised.

Cons:

The welcoming host was quite miserable. There was no food available at 1630 upon arrival except bar crisps/nuts (despite the Carvery advertised as from 1200-1800).
The room was spacious but had a very odd smell in there, and loud maintenance began right outside the window at 0730.
Breakfast was stated as included...it wasn't until the hotel's message that stated it was only continental but we could upgrade on the day.
We were informed by the welcoming host thatbreakfast would be 0730-0930....we arrived in the morning to be told be a different host it finished at 0900 as per a not well advertised sign...so all we got was a coffee and a croissant.

Overcharged, under delivered…..
Pros:

Proximity to a wedding venue we were attending

Cons:

We stayed in room no 1
The room was small, no air conditioning, no fridge, limited wardrobe space and the decoration is unacceptable in the bathroom.
We are a bit surprised that the AA rate the facilities as 4 star ???
We paid for “breakfast included” to then be informed that a cooked breakfast will cost an extra £8.00 each !
Not good value for money especially as the overall cost per night was almost £200 !!!!
