A lovely hotel in Anacapri
Pros:

The hotel is located in Anacapri on the way to Grotta Azzura almost at the far end of the Island. It is a 15 minute walk to Anacapri centre. The ambience of the hotel and the pool area are wonderful like a small piece of paradise. The landscaping of the hotel is wonderful.
The staff of the hotel are very welcoming and knowledgeable. They also give lots of information about how to explore the island.
The breakfast is nice and varied and the breakfast room / garden is really stylish with lovely plants. The rooms are clean, modern, fresh and spacious.

Cons:

The main negative thing is that to get to paradise is not easy because transport in Capri isn't great since the whole island has 1 narrow road that allows 2 way traffic so its not safe to walk and its too hot in summer also. This means that you will need to factor in €40-€50 per trip in a taxi if you want to go anywhere besides Anacapri centre that you can walk to. There are little busses at €2.40 but people are squashed like sardines in them. To offset this cost the hotel have a little car that ferries guests around if prebooked however we weren't always able to use it either because they were busy collecting new arrivals at the port or because our departure was early.
Given the choice I would still choose the hotel because its location is relaxing but its good to know you could be spending €150 per day on Taxis.
The other negative is that no free water is provided on arrival. When asking you are simply directed to the tiny water bottle in the minibar that comes at quite a cost. I arrived unwell on my first day and couldn't leave the room so having no water wasn't fun.
Its worth noting also that this is the first hotel that I've ever been to where they charge for the coffee pods in the room at €3 per pod. Coffee sachets and tea bags are free :)

A wonderful stay with excellent staff and facilities, but the breakfast policy could be improved.

The hotel was amazing, with beautiful facilities, a relaxing atmosphere, and very friendly staff. The pool area was excellent, and a special thanks to Franco, who was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and made our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, the service was fantastic, and we had a wonderful experience.

Cons:

The only disappointing part was the breakfast. Although breakfast was included in our booking, many basic items such as fried eggs, omelettes, fresh fruit, and some cakes required an additional charge. This wasn’t made clear beforehand and was unexpected for an included breakfast. It would be much better if these items were included or if the extra charges were communicated more clearly.

10/10 - Esperienza Fantastica!

Abbiamo trascorso quattro notti meravigliose all’Hotel Orsa Maggiore e possiamo dire senza dubbio che è stata una delle esperienze più belle vissute a Capri.

L’hotel è immerso nella tranquillità di Anacapri, in una posizione perfetta per rilassarsi ma allo stesso tempo comodissima grazie all’eccellente servizio navetta che collega l’hotel al centro e al porto. La piscina è semplicemente splendida: un’oasi di pace con una vista meravigliosa, perfetta per rinfrescarsi dopo una giornata di mare.

Le camere sono molto curate, gli ambienti eleganti e pulitissimi, e tutto il personale è sempre sorridente, professionale e disponibile.

Anche il ristorante merita una menzione speciale: abbiamo pranzato in hotel e abbiamo mangiato benissimo, con piatti di qualità e un servizio impeccabile.

Grazie al concierge abbiamo anche organizzato uno splendido tour privato in barca, un’esperienza davvero consigliata per scoprire Capri dal mare.

Una nota di merito davvero speciale va a Luigi, che è stato molto più di un semplice autista. È stato un vero punto di riferimento durante tutto il soggiorno: sempre puntuale, elegante, disponibile e di una gentilezza rara. Oltre ad accompagnarci con grande professionalità, ci ha consigliato ottimi ristoranti, luoghi da visitare e tante piccole chicche che solo chi conosce davvero Capri può suggerire. La sua esperienza del territorio e la passione con cui svolge il suo lavoro hanno reso la nostra vacanza ancora più bella. Persone come Luigi rappresentano al meglio il significato della vera ospitalità.

Grazie a tutto lo staff per aver reso il nostro soggiorno indimenticabile. Quando torneremo a Capri, la nostra scelta sarà senza alcun dubbio ancora l’Hotel Orsa Maggiore.

Cons:

The gym and massage table are in the same room and it’s not much of a gym. Did a job for one workout but just be wary if thats important to you.

Pros:

L’accueil professionnel et sympathique de tout le personnel. La gentillesse et la disponibilité. Le confort de la chambre. J’ai adoré la piscine et la possibilité de déjeuner au bord.

Cons:

Rien à part peut être que j’aurais aimé qu’il y ait un restaurant pour dîner le soir et ne pas être obligé d’aller à Anacapri ou Capri.

Pros:

From the moment you walk in. Not sure how it isn’t a 5 star! The entire staff is amazing. Loved our stay and didn’t want to leave. Perfect location nice a quiet, cozy room and views. Chefs kiss breakfast! Cant wait to return!

La classe et l’ambiance chaleureuse.
Pros:

Tout, c’est la grande classe Italienne ! Un lieu de charme, très calme et chaleureux. Tout est fait pour le bien-être du client. La piscine est superbe, la vue est belle, le petit déjeuner est excellent et de qualité. Le personnel dans son ensemble est sympathique et disponible. Le petit plus la navette gratuite pour venir vous récupérer. Un séjour hors du temps sur l’île.

Pros:

A very nice hotel with sea views and a pool. Easily walk into AnaCapri for shopping, history or food. Transfers by Luigi available. Excellent service, clean and amazing pool too.
