Great location & historic building!
Pros:

Cool old building w great windows on canal. Staff were all lovely!! Beds were comfy! Bathroom redone & great! Location was walkable to museums etc.

Cons:

Couch & other living room furniture belonged in a frat house. Totally worn out. We did learn that this furniture is due to be replaced soon (rather complicated to get items in & out of a tight 5 flights of stairs!!!).

Pros:

Location and room view.

Cons:

We stayed in the most expensive room but radiator was not working. When I told the situation, the answer was “there is no staff to solve this”. They gave us a small electric radiator as a solution.

Shabby, dirty, and rude staff; anything but Grand.
Pros:

Good location.

Cons:

I have never needed to write a bad review for a hotel before but the Grand Canal Boutique Hotel deserves one.
The room we were allocated (3) was shabby and dirty; extremely poor decorative order with random paint patches, mould in the bathroom, shabby furniture, thick dust on the light shade, blood staining on the curtains, graffiti on the wall, generally dirty and a window that not only looked out onto a scruffy little yard of dirty wooden boards and scaffolding poles but also allowed other people in the hotel to look directly into the room from an adjacent window, so there was no privacy unless the curtains were closed, which made the room dark.
When we said we were not happy with the room and asked if we could have an alternative, we were met with a disinterested attitude and told there wasn’t one available. They offered a different room for our following two nights but couldn’t guarantee it would be any better. When we said we would go somewhere else for that night and would come back the next day, we were told not to bother and check out completely.
We then had to find another hotel to stay in for that night and the following two; it was not the start we wanted for our holiday.
We complained to Booking.com; the hotel initially agreed to refund our booking fee, which we had paid in full in advance but the next day they changed their mind and have now refused.
I only wish I had read the reviews on Tripadvisor before booking; it seems many other people have had a similar experience.

Bad, bad, bad. It’s. 40 euro hotel. Door knobs fall off, broken furniture, no ac, either mosquitos or bed bugs in the roo
Pros:

Location was tolerable

Cons:

Total state of disrepair. Room provided was so far what was booked, management should be ashamed by the deception.
