Great location
Loved the harbour view each morning
Very warm room and had to open the window during the day to keep the temperature down but at night had to close the windows to keep harbor activity noise out. Wish there was a fan
Amazing staff, great location, and so walkable!
Not a thing.
We had dinner here one night but didn't stay overnight. The food was quite good but extremely expensive. The wating staff were friendly but probably overwhelmed by a large coach party. Overall we were not impressed. We waited five minutes, despite prebooking, before anyone paid any attention to us, and had to pay at the bar when leaving because "the waiting staff were having their dinner." There are cheaper and more attentive options in Kirkwall.
Convenient. The check in and staff were excellent. Good meal with very friendly staff.
Town centre was close
Great staff
Maybe our room was a little outdated, otherwise great hotel
Lovely old hotel on the waterfront in the centre of the town. Our room was very comfortable and our stay there was great.
We were on the second floor and we could hear the creaky floors above us. This didn’t bother us as part of staying in a lovely old building but others might find it annoying.
Location, room lovely, loved the view of the pier, breakfast great, had no trouble parking our car out front.
Nothing
Staff awesome. Room was so lovely. Spent so much just watching time go by. Food the 2 nights (out of the 8 we stayed was spot on).
Met so many lovely people here every morning at breakfast.
The staff are like family.
We love this place so much we have already booked for next year with the same view. So sad we had to come back to real life.
See you next year.
excellent location on the waterfront with great view of the harbour. Front desk and hotel staff where very nice, helpful and made the stay special.
Lower floor rooms at the front of the hotel are over a public bar so can be loud until closing time plus their is a night club down the street and taxi rank opposite the hotel that can make the street loud until 2pm at the weekend. Weekday its ok just an issue at the weekend.
If you’re looking for a juicy, succulent handmade fresh burger - don’t order the one from here. Very obviously from frozen.
Service and staff were friendly enough, very disappointing food.
My room was very comfortable and cozy. The bathroom was decorated very nicely and welcoming. Excellent extras provided with great coffee and treats. I loved the decor!
One morning at breakfast one of the employees wasn't very pleasant. She kept asking us when we were leaving and she ended up rearranging tables and chairs forcing us to leave. As a small group tour we were told breakfast was available between 7am -9:30am.
Really comfortable stay in lovely refurbished room with harbour view. Breakfast was ok but decided to eat elsewhere in evenings.
This is a lovely hotel and in my experience the best hotel in Orkney. The rooms are beautiful. They have loads of character. They are very comfortable and spotlessly clean and they are warm. They also have a huge lounge area where guests can relax and chill with sea views and a lovely bar. The breakfasts are delicious and the staff are extremely helpful, welcoming and accommodating. The customer service is fantastic here. I have stayed here 3 times and once at The Shore hotel next door, and I cannot fault the hotel or the service. Its a very comfortable and welcoming stay. I'm extremely grateful to Stuart, one of the reception staff at the Kirkwall Hotel who went the extra mile to make me feel welcome. All round, a great experience and I'm very grateful to The Kirkwall Hotel for everything they did for me during my time in Orkney. Highly recommend this place. You wont find better in Orkney and the prices are reasonable for what Orkney prices are.
Such a lovely hotel overlooking the bay and harbour, close to the airport and an easy walk into the town with all its pretty individual shops, cafes and galleries. Very helpful staff, efficient and friendly. Excellent breakfasts and restaurant menu and service was great and good value. Our twin room had lovely views across the bay and harbour. Some fascinating historical pictures and old ledgers in the main stairwell.
