Friendly and helpful staff. Clean spacious room.
Great food.
The water in the shower was hot.
I received a message from the hotel asking my check in time and would I like a table for dinner, I booked a table for 19:00.
On arrival, I checked in and got room 10, round the back, one of the "chalets".
The area around the chalet was dirty and unkempt, rubbish had fallen out of the bins and was blowing about in the wind.
The room itself was old and tired, paper peeling off the walls, bodged up repairs to the wardrobe.
At 19:00, I went to the restaurant and saw a male member of staff who told me to sit anywhere.
I sat, and waited, after about ten minutes, he came to the table next to mine with a menu and asked someone at the table what they wanted. He obviously knew the people as they all had a chat about someone leaving.
I was completely ignored. As there was only my table and this other table occupied, I thought it was a bit rude.
I waited a little longer and then went to the bar and asked for a menu.
The look I got was as if I had disturbed a deep conversation between the three staff members.
Eventually, someone came and asked me if I wanted to order some food.
I ordered the fish and twice cooked chips. The fish was pleasant, the chips were like bullets. No one came to see if I was enjoying my food.
Breakfast the next morning was abysmal, most of the hot trays were empty, there was one rasher of bacon left and it was floating alone in the left over grease.
Tables were left full of dirty pots and not being cleared, so seating was limited.
There was one staff member on duty, flitting around the room and achieving nothing.
If she had managed a smile it would have been nice.
Lots of people were complaining about lack of food in the trays.
When I checked out and handed in my key, no "how was your stay or did you sleep well", the staff member just took my key and said thanks.
What really capped this off was that I had paid £91 for this room and then £15:50 for the fish and chips.
- good location close to Scrabster pier
- comfy beds
- friendly staff
- the hotel is dated,
- the bathroom was very dark even with lights on, the bulb wasn’t the brightest,
- there was a thick layer of dust on top of the headboard,
- the heating was off, so we were cold,
- the paint from the radiator was peeling off, revealing rust underneath.
Tudo muito fraco
Low price
The whole hotel is in need of renovation, but at least it was relatively clean.
But the bed is one of the absolute worst I have seen. Hard, squeaky and even laying still the springs would just randomly pop. Bad pillows make it even worse.
Great location for catching ferry to Orkney
Nil
Very large and comfortable room. Plenty parking. Lovely staff
Nothing at all
Breakfast was adequate
The evening meal was poor, the room that was allocated had not been cleaned since the last occupants, the TV system reception throughout the hotel was poor.
Room was very small and dinner plus breakfast options expensive, so we didn’t have them
Ample parking; our room was very tidy, just a bit old-fashioned – but that’s a matter of taste – and the staff were very friendly and helpful
Unfortunately, getting hot water was very difficult, and the breakfast wasn’t good at all (a bit unhygienic and mainly meat)
Location, stanza, colazione,
La struttura dell'hotel necessiterebbe di un ammodernamento. Fuori della finestra nostra stanza la grondaia aveva ceduto e nel buco sostavano gli uccelli.
