The hotel is very well located, easy to access and close to sights, cafes, pubs and restaurants!
It looks great on pictures but the reality was different. When we checked in they told us they gave us a bigger room and we were excited. In the end we got a room, with an uncomfortable layout (no space to have a big suitcase open really). The worst was that the door of the closet was hanging on the edge (fell out entirely when I wanted to use the other side of the closet). The blinds where hanging down on one edge and even if it’s was ok clean, for what it’s promised I would rate it not totally clean! Also, we stayed 3 nights and not once got room cleaning, new toilet paper or anything. I find it sad that it appears to be a great hotel but in the end I felt more like in an Airbnb. Maybe good for business trips, not perfect for a leisure trip.

C'est la 4ème fois que nous venons dans cet hôtel et c'est encore un séjour parfait. Belle chambre, propre, calme, une vue magnifique, un petit déjeuné superbe avec de bon produits. A 2min à peine d'un arrêt de métro sur une ligne idéale pour faire toutes les attractions. A 10 min à pied de la Tour de Londres et de Tower Bridge. Nous reviendrons c'est certain.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at The Gate London City. The rooms were modern, clean and well-equipped, and the location is also very convenient for exploring the city. The breakfast was generally adequate and offered a good selection.
Unfortunately, at the breakfast buffet, hardly anything was being replenished a good 45 minutes before the official closing time. Furthermore, the staff began clearing away around 30 minutes before closing time, which gave the impression that guests were being urged to leave. Unfortunately, the staff in the breakfast area did not come across as particularly friendly or service-minded.
Great location close to tube. Coffee in lounge was a bonus. Self catering easy as supermarket across the street.

We stayed at The Gate and unfortunately my experience was disappointing, which is reflected in our rating of 3/10.
The cleanliness of the room was below expectations and not particularly pleasant on arrival. We were also only provided with one set of towels, which was inconvenient. Additionally, the TV soundbar was not working initially and required a technician to attend the room. While this was eventually resolved, I do want to acknowledge the technician’s effort and professionalism.
A major concern throughout the stay was the difficulty in contacting staff. Attempts via the QR code system went unanswered despite multiple tries, and phone communication was equally challenging.
The most frustrating issue occurred the day before check-out when the air conditioning in our room stopped working. The temperature rose to 28°C, making the room extremely uncomfortable. We reported this to the front desk around 10am before heading out, but when we returned at approximately 2pm, the issue had still not been resolved. The room felt like an oven, and we had to sit in the lobby waiting for updates.
Despite the inconvenience, no effective solution was provided. We left again to meet friends and returned around 9pm; while the room felt slightly cooler, the control panel still showed 24°C and the issue did not appear fully resolved.
Overall, the stay was frustrating, with multiple service and maintenance issues and a lack of responsive support.
