Pros:

The staff were very friendly and accomodating. Location was fantastic, very close to the beach, restaurants and markets. The swimming pool was a nice change to cool down from a day at the beach.

Cons:

Could use a fridge in the room so not having to bother staff about keeping things cold. Also the wifi could be better.

The hotel was very exltent vibe and food was very good restaurant staff and all the staff very friendly and room was very clean and comfortable manager is very smiley and very friendly they given the very good welcome for us we did not get experience before like this in srilanka morning breakfast was very exited to us with sweet and lovely we will come next year definitely to this hotel we missed very staff and hotel lovely good bye

Pros:

Close proximity to the beach and the pool. Hearty breakfast.

Cons:

The hotel is pretty basic for the price. We were put in a small room, away from our daughters on the first night which was pretty grotty - cobwebs, no side lights, no TV just a broken fixture, tea bags but no kettle. We were moved the next night to a larger room and the price was reduced when asked. The pool is great but the site lacks maintenance e.g. the pool tiles are cracked (my daughter cut both her foot and her hand), the grass is long and littered and there is a general feeling of tiredness.

Cons:

The hotel is very tired and desperately needs some TLC. Having said that, it’s so close to a great beach, you don’t need to stay in the hotel that much, so what’s not to like!

Good location to enjoy Uppeveli beach
Pros:

Good location. Short walk to the beach and to restaurants and bars. Nice big room. Big swimming pool with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas.
Ate breakfast here which was good. Very clean. Clothes dryer stand to hang out wet towels and swim suits outside each room which was handy.

Pros:

The room was very comfortable and pool also very clean we are excited with breakfast they serve for us srilanakan break fast and continental breakfast the manager was very friendly , staff also very kindly thankyou mrd beach hotel we meet next year lovely 🌹

Pros:

Vi blev mødt med et stort smil. Manageren tog godt imod os sammen med sit personale. Morgenmaden var god og lidt som man kunne forvente. De var venlig og hjælpsomme både med hvalsafari og bestilling af tuk tuk. Udendørs arealet og poolen er i top.

Une expérience très décevante, sans doute l’une des pires que nous ayons vécues lors de nos voyages en Asie.

Dès notre arrivée, le responsable nous a annoncé qu’il s’était trompé dans la réservation et qu’aucune chambre n’était disponible pour nous la première nuit. Nous avons donc été envoyés dans un hôtel, avec une chambre minuscule et sans eau chaude. Un rabais nous a finalement été accordé, à ma demande.

Le petit-déjeuner est très limité : quelques toasts, un œuf, et il faut choisir entre un jus d’orange et des fruits, sans pouvoir avoir les deux. Le service est extrêmement lent. Plus généralement, le personnel est peu souriant, peu réactif, tout le temps le téléphone à la main.

Ce qui nous a le plus choqué durant notre séjour ces que certains membres du personnels se baignaient dans la piscine pendant que les clients l’utilisaient, tandis qu’un autre s’était installé devant une chambre en diffusant de la musique très forte depuis son téléphone !!! J'ai jamais vu ça !

La piscine est divisée en trois parties, mais l’espace jacuzzi était hors service et contenait un fond d’eau stagnante, dans un état franchement insalubre. Autour de la piscine, il n’y avait que cinq chaises longues et deux matelas, tous très usés et abîmés.

L'hôtel est globalement mal entretenu. La porte de notre salle de bain était cassée et maintenue par un crochet. La climatisation est bruyante et fonctionne mal. Les chambres sont sombres et trop petite pour trois (quatre) personnes et ne permettait pas de poser correctement les bagages. Le wifi ne passe absolument pas dans les chambres.

Un deuxième étage est actuellement en construction, avec bâches, échafaudages et parties inachevées, ce qui renforce encore l’impression générale de négligence.

Bra läge nära de bästa restaurangerna på stranden. Fin pool.

Bra läge med några hundra meter till stranden!
Gott mottagande av managern som var mycket mån om att vi skulle trivas. Fin och välskött pool.

Cons:

I vår bokning ingick frukost och lunch eller middag. Det fanns utvecklingsmöjligheter gällande restaurangen.
Trånga rum om man är tre vuxna personer med packning.
Managern lyssnade in vår feedback och var mycket tillmötesgående!

Bardzo dobre usytuowanie hotelu w pobliżu plaży oraz rozlicznych barów i restauracji. Basen hotelowy co jest rzadkością na Sri Lance. Co prawda jest to jeden nieduży basen podzielony na 3 części, a nie 3 baseny jak to jest opisane na Booking.com .
Przyjazna i gotowa do niesienia pomocy obsługa.

Cons:

Pros:

We stayed at MRD Hotel for a few nights and overall had a good experience. The location is convenient, about a 5-minute walk to the beach, with several restaurants nearby. We enjoyed dining at Thaya Sea Food Restaurant, which was within walking distance, and there are shops and services close by as well.

The staff at the front desk and throughout the hotel were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. Our bags were carried to our room upon arrival, which was appreciated after a long day of travel.

Our room was clean and comfortable, although it was a bit tight for four adults. The beds were comfortable and the room served its purpose well as a base for exploring the area.

Breakfast was included and consisted of fresh fruit, coffee, an omelet sandwich, and bottled water. Everything was fresh and enjoyable. There was some confusion regarding what was included in our booking, as our reservation mentioned all-inclusive but breakfast was the only meal provided. Communication was occasionally challenging, but the staff always tried their best to assist.

The Wi-Fi worked, although we did not receive the access codes until the following day, and there were separate networks for the restaurant and guest rooms. The room network was sometimes difficult to connect to.

A few small details could be improved. Our room initially had only two towels despite four guests being registered, and additional supplies such as toilet paper required follow-up requests. However, these were minor issues and did not significantly affect our stay.

We also found local services to be convenient, including laundry service charged by weight, which was completed efficiently.

Overall, MRD Hotel offers good value in a great location with kind staff and easy access to the beach and nearby restaurants. While there were a few communication and housekeeping details that could be improved, we enjoyed our stay and would consider returning.

Pros:

Recommend to stay here! Stayed here for five nights to recover from food poisoning i got at another place while backpacking. The staff was REALLY helpful and friendly, and even arranged a visit to the hospital when i got worse. The food you can order is really good and fresh, and you can eat it in your room. Nice pool also, and very good AC in room!
