Recommended Downtown Dallas option
Pros:

Great hotel in downtown Dallas- liked the very comfortable bed and opulent entrance and overall vibe of the hotel.

Had breakfast in the Little Daisy which has a nice ambience and food.

Pool is small but has some great views of downtown- overall a perfect stay!

Pros:

In centro. Comoda. Bello esteticamente e con un bel ristorante al 49esimo piano.

Cons:

Camera non pulita. Polvere su i mobili, sopra mobili,
Nel letto conternitore. In bagno c’erano unghie tagliate.

Pros:

Good in downtown but uptown uptown will be better for safety now given the situation of Dallas downtown. Rest was okay for me.

Definitely Performative
Pros:

Thompson Dallas is what this generation calls performative. This hotel appears beautiful but that’s about it. The valet staff is friendly even when we arrived during a super busy time when they were dealing with a ton of guests for a wedding rehearsal. Front desk staff was not warm or welcoming though check in process was quick and smooth. I’m not sure what I was expecting. Maybe a little bit more welcoming for a “fancier” property. We were on the 18th floor for our stay but it was as though we stayed on the ground floor. We heard all the obnoxious pretend expensive cars throughout the night reving their engines. On certain nights we heard what seemed like vacuuming in the hallways. One of the shades in our room did not work. Maintenance came to pull it down and it stayed down our entire stay. Making the room quite dark during the day. The bathroom could use at least one hook for a toiletry bag. If you use self parking, be prepared to figure out how to get to the hotel elevators. There needs to be better signage indicating that you have to take service elevators through certain doors to get to the hotel elevators. It also stinks down there. If all you want is to stay at a “fancier” Hyatt property, this may be it. I would rather spend my money or points elsewhere.

Great room with exceptional views
Pros:

Valet service and check- in experience was exceptional. The location is great but if you are not used to navigating downtown Dallas it can be a little confusing with the construction (obviously not the hotels fault). The sky view suite was top tier!

AVOID!! From a seasoned traveler
Pros:

The Thompson Hotel is quite honestly one of the worst 5-star hotels I've stayed at in 27 years of extensive global business travel. It's not the issue that the rooms are expensive, we regularly I'm more than happy to pay a premium price for a premium experience, so having stayed in their most expensive Suite and not being able to sleep at all because there is an elevator mechanical room right next door to the premier Suite is a disgrace. When we called down to the lobby to speak to guest services, they said, oh really, no one's ever complained about that before. I really can't understand how no one has ever complained when there is a constant mechanical clunking noise every time the elevator is used. Breakfast is frankly some of the worst meals I have had at a five-star hotel and honestly Denny's serves better food and that says something. We then unfortunately were told that the only place we could dine for dinner was the same restaurant, and we were served rotten mussels (and I am a renowned Chef so I know a bad mussel!!!). We're not ones to complain and honestly this is one of the first reviews I've ever left on Tripadvisor. But when we did raise the significant issues with the guest services manager, we were told that they would take the mussels off the bill. Nearly $2,000 later for a one-night stay, I honestly cannot warn people enough not to stay at the Thompson Dallas

Great for couples
Pros:

Excellent hotel for couples. We did a mini staycation. Pool had a DJ on Saturday and fun vibe. Little Daisy is a great spot for breakfast. We enjoyed dinner at Kessaku and a nightcap at Catbird. Rooms are nice, we stayed in a corner King. One watch out is the outside noise level despite us being on the 19th floor. Not sure if that was because we had a corner room with floor to ceiling windows.

Elegance with a Balance of Comfort
Pros:

Our stay at the Dallas Thompson was just what our family needed. Walking in to check-in, we were met with the sophistication that is synonymous with Thompson properties. These touches are shown throughout the hotel and rooms but there was a level of homeyness included as well. The amenities from the fitness center, yoga area, and pool and deck were touch notch and designed for maximum enjoyment.

Not pet friendly as advertised
Pros:

This hotel is moderate. It is not luxurious. We came here because it represents itself to be extremely “pet friendly “. For them, that means they do not ask for a deposit. But they get you in a 100 other ways - 70$ valet for 24 hours, the hot and cool plunge they advertise ? You pay extra for that. You have to pay for the cabanas around the pool - if you don’t have one, you may as well vacation in the Sahara Desert, maybe you have to pay to use the pool too. We wouldn’t know because of the following:

The major con about this entire enterprise is that it is only pet friendly because there are also residences here where people can live here with pets. An artificial grass area is provided on the 9th floor where you can “relieve your pets “ - your pet and a 100 other pets who apparently live here full time - it reeks of urine and poop and huge unruly dogs.

The last straw is you cannot leave your pet unattended in your room even in carriers. So, if you want to be held hostage in a moderately crappy room with your dog for 400 dollars a night, this is definitely the place for you.

Dogs are not allowed in the common areas or the restaurants (restaurants are privately owned and not affiliated with the hotel - also not clearly described in their advertising). You are stuck in a high rise downtown building. There are different rules for guests and residents - none of which are explained. There is noise and construction and little food choices. Room service is outrageously priced (at least they have it or we couldn’t eat) - the mini bar is minimal and also exorbitantly expensive.

My pet weighs six pounds. True “pet friendly “ hotels have designated areas in the hotel for people with pets, and they can be left in the room in carriers or crates . I wish I had stayed home or paid for the ritz Carlton- it’s worth the money to pay more and know what you are getting and they will always make it right.

Exceeded expectations for a Texas staycation
Pros:

Beautiful room upgrade and overall amazing experience. Was not expecting the hotel to be anywhere near as nice as it was. Loved the mirrors in the rooms and the feeling of expansiveness from the view. Little Daisy had great food the only downside was that it took a while to come out. Highly recommend the breakfast there!
