My room was clean, and the daily housekeeping was good. The complimentary continental breakfast was basic, but that was all that I needed. The ability to use multiple beach clubs was a bonus. The sargassum was a bit of an issue, but workmen regularly removed what collected on the beach. Parking at the hotel was limited, and the parking spots were small, so renting a very small car is advisable if you need to drive around the island. I never had an issue finding a parking spot. There are a lot of restaurants at the Orient Bay Village, which is within walking distance of the hotel, so a car is not needed if you plan to stay just in the Orient Bay area.
The rooms were great and had everything we needed. The staff was also kind and welcoming. The location can’t be beat esp with ocean facing rooms. We stayed in building 4, perfect for beach access. The other restaurants and convenience shops in orient village were just a 3 min walk from the hotel. Be sure to use the beach club access that’s a wonderful addition- we found coco beach to be the best fit for our style. The only negative I had was the beds were hard, i prefer a softer mattress. We will definitely be back!
We very much enjoy going to Orient Beach Hotel. People are very nice and offer good service. There are many dinner options within easy walking distance from the Hotel. We had no problem getting chairs at the beach or at the pool. Thank you
Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the Price
I recently stayed at this property from April 22–28 and, unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations—especially given the nightly rate of approximately $465.
We specifically chose this hotel for a beachfront vacation, but several key aspects were deeply disappointing. Most notably, we paid for an oceanfront room but received only a partial, obstructed view. When we raised this concern during our stay, no alternative or resolution was offered.
Another major issue was the beach itself. Orient Bay was completely unusable due to heavy sargassum. What made this especially frustrating was the lack of communication prior to arrival. Had we been informed, we would have seriously considered rescheduling. Instead, we had to make last-minute arrangements and pay out of pocket for transportation every day and access to alternative beaches each day. All of the beach club locations they normally partner with were affected by the Sargassum, making the beach smelly, unswimable due to the thick seaweed. they should have offered free transportation or a partnership with a beach club in a swimable area.
Additional concerns included:
Torn and worn linens that did not reflect a luxury standard
Minimal, underwhelming breakfast despite being advertised as included
No assistance with luggage upon arrival
A lackluster pool area with little ambiance
The presence of roaches in the orient bay community in the village, on the walk too and from the hotel and near the ice machine on property.
Ultimately, we paid a premium price for what amounted to little more than a place to sleep, as we were unable to enjoy the amenities or beachfront experience we had specifically booked.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend this property, particularly at this price point.
We loved the Orient Beach Hotel - the location was perfect, a short walk from our room to the beach. We had a 1st floor room with patio which was very nicely decorated, spacious and a comfortable bed. It was nice to have the small kitchenette to be able to keep cold drinks and have a coffee. The pool was nice and we like the continental breakfast served next door at KKO beach club. Overall, an excellent, relaxing stay.
The rooms were very well appointed and we enjoyed the beach chair access. Did a pretty good job removing the sargassum that accumulated daily. Friendly staff. The village was a 5 min beach walk with lots of restaurants to choose from.
Front desk people were nice and room was nice inside
Room location was terrible and that’s not what i was under impression to have booked. Very misleading
Also, staff in the KOK restaurant was incredibly UNFRIENDLY and service was terrible!
Stayed for 5 nights with my teen, beautiful rooms and great location right on the beach. Rented a car and drove around the French side; definitely felt Orient Beach area to be the nicest. Rooms were beautifully appointed and well kept. Our ground level garden room allowed easy walk out to the beach and a nice patio area for sitting and enjoying the ocean breeze with a pre- dinner drink or snack. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Easy to grab beach chairs any time of day. Short walk to the nearby small town with a few shops, grocery, bakery, deli and multitude of exceptional restaurant choices for dinner each evening. Very family friendly and relaxed area. Highly recommend this small gem of a hotel!
We just returned from another marvelous week at Orient Beach Hotel on the French side of St. Martin. This was our first time visiting in April as we usually travel in June. As before, the hotel room was pristine and our view from our third-floor balcony was like a postcard (or AI meme for you younger folk…).
The king bed was comfortable, the AC worked great, there was ample space for storing clothes, and the bathroom was fine with a large shower. We mainly liked the balcony and glass doors that look out over the amazing view and pool. The small kitchenette was functional and we mainly used the fridge and microwave. A small grocery story is about a quarter-mile away, a short five-minute walk.
General Manager Myriam and her team took great care of us, helping with arrangements for lunch at Anse Marcel Beach Restaurant (highly recommend) and dinners in The Village, along with lining up taxi rides to Grand Case for shopping and dinner and to other locations. They care about their guests and make you feel at home.
Another overlooked benefit of staying there is you get access to beach chairs at a variety of Orient Beach clubs, saving anywhere from $30-75 a day. Likewise, you get free access to the Wai Wild Gym on the beach, a fun outdoor gym that also offers (small fee) fitness classes on a platform looking out over the sea.
While at Orient Beach, be sure to splurge a night at L’Atelier, our favorite restaurant, for some of the best steaks you’ll find outside of Chicago, Kansas City or NYC, along with impeccable service. The beach clubs offer sea views and delicious lunches and we frequented Wai Plage, KonTiki and Bikini Beach.
We highly recommend Orient Beach Hotel and look forward to our next visit.
I spent 3 days with my daughter and this hotel was a pleasant surprise. The room was very charming, clean, and had a sea view. The only thing that leaves something to be desired is a very weak breakfast. A shame, because that's what's missing to give it 5 stars.
Good size rooms with excellent facilities.
Lightning didn’t work well. Wiring/sockets were old.
Some fixtures were tired but bed was updated and very comfortable.
Suite magnifique, vue incroyable, personnel très souriant et serviable
Un peu cher tout de même
Spent a wonderful 5 nights at OBH. Rooms are large and comfortable. Photos depicted on website are true to form. Would have loved an upper level room but we were not so lucky. Staff were all kind. Was happy with the breakfast that was included in the room cost, as well as the beach loungers/umbrellas. No need to worry about adapters, they can be borrowed at the front desk. This was not our first trip to the island, so we had no desire to rent a car. Taxied to/from airport, Pinel ferry & Friars/ Happy Bay. Walked to Orient Village each evening for fabulous meals.
Issues:
Room 402
1) Slider did not lock! If we had an upper floor room this would not be a concern. Staff attempted to fix it. The first night that did not happen, we needed to use the hurricane shutters for safety purposes. Next day, it was repaired only to fail 2 more times during our stay. Desk was notified with each incident. Actually, one of the employees mentioned this was noted by the vacationer who had checked out before us. Manager was made aware. At checkout I advised this would be reported on TA. Please invest in a new lock .
2) Water pressure in shower was awful. I assumed this was normal on this side of the island. Imagine my surprise on check out day, that my sons room (201) had great water pressure. Go figure. Desk was advised at check out.
We block out weeks for trips then look for last minute deals, sometimes works. This trip got good deal on airfares to Saint Martin. Many places sold out so we stayed 4 days at other resort, 5 days Orient Beach Hotel. OBH only had lowest level suite available, which was fine. Nice room, ground level, next to pool, view of bushes and pool, view of beach off in distance. Reception staff very nice, helpful. Continental Breakfast buffet at KKO beach club ok, servers and staff dogs all nice. OBH is towards east end of Orient Beach, easy walking up to L’Astrolabe, over to Orient Village, down beach to 6-8 beach bar/restaurants, and nude beach at east end. Nude beach has about 100 pairs of beach chairs/umbrellas to rent, plus Peach Bar & Grill, great tiki bar with picnic tables. Didn’t rent a car, took taxis to Grand Case, Marigot, Simpson Bay, probably spent about same as rental car. Great dining all over the French side.
