Great valet and location. Hotel meh
Pros:

We stayed here during Picklesburgh. The valet once we figured it out worked great and they had the car in 5-10 minutes even at busy times. Hotel was ok. Nothing special. Was very expensive for what you got

Give Trenton A Raise.
Pros:

We came to Pittsburgh for Picklesburgh and a bachelorette party, and one of the highlights of the entire trip was the valet attendant, Trenton.

From the moment we arrived, he was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. He went out of his way to make everyone feel taken care of, even while dealing with the chaos of a busy weekend. At one point, he even stepped in to help break up a fight outside the hotel, then went right back to making guests laugh and feel welcome like nothing had happened.

Exceptional customer service is hard to find, and Trenton absolutely deserves the recognition. He made our stay more enjoyable, and we’ll remember his kindness long after the weekend is over. 10/10—give this guy a raise!

Great location and vibe.
Pros:

Industrial vibe and it was clean

Cons:

Our room wasn’t ready at 4pm as promised. It was ready at 530pm which forced my family to wait at the restaurant downstairs. We basically spent $80 extra to wait because we had to order something. We almost missed our dinner reso also.
In addition, the AC unit was functioning however it was incredibly loud at night time. My 8 yo was almost wide awake each time it kicked on. Something was up with the temp regulation in the building - older building so I get it but something should be done for the price tag we paid to stay there

Checked Out to Stay Elsewhere!
Pros:

We stayed only one night of a planned three night stay and checked in at a different hotel. The room at The Industrialist was very dark and worn-out looking. Security was non-existent. Breakfast, food and service, was poor.

Complete failure by Marriott
Pros:

We stayed to celebrate 2 birthdays and go to PNC for a game. The staff was so confused by the rebrand that they could not provide any customer support. We paid for lounge access but the lounge was eliminated as part of the rebrand and we did not get a refund. We had to request extra towels and pillows 3 times and all we wanted to do was get cleaned up and go to bed after a long day of travel. We had to pay for breakfast even though we paid for the non-existent lounge and by the time we found the breakfast area we had to eat in 5 minutes before they closed. We opened a Marriott card just for this stay and to get rewards, but I could not use the new card and could not get my other card refunded, so we did not get rewards. Complete failure on the part of Marriott. Next time we'll stay at a HILTON property.

Autograph Collection? No! Not Even Close
Pros:

I and our family have stayed at Marriott properties since I was literally a child so over 40 years. This property was a huge disappointment especially since it is supposedly a part of the “autograph collection” for Marriott. Pulled up to the valet and the valet was nowhere to be found. When the valet did appear we had to get our bags out ourself. OK we check in right before 4PM and the room requested was not ready/available (though I was charged for it). OK after driving 9 hours I just wanted to shower. The room was clean but small (because it wasn’t the room I had requested) and only on the 6th floor and overlooked random roofs with no view what so ever. Took a shower and there was barely hot water (when I inquired why there might not be hot water I was told “we had a wedding last night and had a lot of late check outs” ) not sure I have ever stayed at a hotel that didn’t produce enough hot water for their guests. The shower head was only half working and the shower pressure was non-existent. For what I paid I could have stayed at The Courtyard and paid less and had a better experience. Also the robes in the room were dirty and just checked my Bonvoy account and the points for the stay are nowhere to be found.
Even my 15 year old son who has also stayed at Marriotts since he was bored said “are you sure this is a Marriott?” Nowhere near the Marriott standards I have known and loved.

We had planned to stay 3 nights but checked out after only 1 night and checked in to a different, wonderful hotel.
Pros:

We appreciated that it was a historic building.

Cons:

It has not been kept up, it’s shabby and needs immediate TLC.
Security within the building is poor; anyone can walk in from the street and access guest room floors.
The elevators are supposed to require a room key but they absolutely do not. We inquired why not and were told the elevators are being upgraded…?? No sign of that whatsoever.
The front desk is on the 2nd floor. A valet desk, often unattended, is on the 1st.
A redesign should be considered! The front desk should be on the 1st, street level, and perhaps a small cocktail bar. The restaurant, currently on the 1st floor (sub-par food and appearance) should be on the 2nd floor with a larger cocktail bar.

We would not stay there again.
Pros:

We didn’t have breakfast.
Bed was comfortable.
Shower was good.

Cons:

Room was very dark. One tiny dirty window. Dark walls, dark counters, no light.
Hair on floor.
Small lobby, not what we expect from a downtown, Marriott property

Couple of Issues
Pros:

This was an ok stay, not on par with other Autograph hotels. The staff I interacted with was the highlight while the property wasn’t stellar. Didn’t get much sleep because the air conditioner made a loud banging noise every time it turned off…wanted to alert staff upon checkout so that the next person wouldn’t have the same problem but nobody was to be found at the desk around 7:30 am. The room was surprisingly small tho the bathroom was large and well designed. Parking is not ideal as it is located on a busy corner with few spaces for valet. It wasn’t horrible but next time in the area I’ll try somewhere else.

Rude Hotel Staff
Pros:

You would think if the hotel is part of the IHG family that someone in management would care when you complained about an issue but no way. He was dismissive and rude to me. This is another hotel that I have to say fully skip. It is loud and dirty and I’m not sure what options one has in Pittsburgh but keep looking. Oh and I’m still waiting for that manager to call me back.

Cons:

Service.

A nice functional hotel.
Pros:

My wife and I like Autograph hotels. Our favorites are the Cavalier at Virginia Beach and the Warrior at Sioux City. The Industrialist is a nice hotel, but there is nothing that really makes it stand out. We stayed for the Pittsburgh home and garden show.

A Stunning Blend of History, Luxury, and Warm Hospitality
Pros:

I absolutely loved my stay at The Industrialist in Pittsburgh. From the moment I walked through the doors, I felt like I had stepped into a beautifully preserved piece of the city’s history — but with every modern comfort thoughtfully layered in.

The design of the hotel is breathtaking. The marble, the metalwork, the dramatic lighting, the preserved architectural details… every corner feels intentional and photo worthy. It’s one of those rare hotels where you actually want to explore the hallways and common spaces because they’re that impressive.

My room was spotless, stylish, and incredibly comfortable. The bed was perfect after long days out in the city, and the bathroom felt like a high-end spa with its gorgeous stonework and lighting. Everything felt fresh, upscale, and well cared for.

The staff deserves special mention — every interaction was warm, genuine, and helpful. You can tell they take pride in the property and in making guests feel welcome. It made the entire experience feel elevated.

Location-wise, you can’t beat it. Right in the heart of downtown, walkable to restaurants, sights, and the riverfront. It made exploring Pittsburgh effortless.

If you’re visiting the city and want a hotel that’s equal parts luxury, character, and comfort, The Industrialist is the one. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.
