Wunderschönes altes Haus, sehr gutes Frühstücksbuffet, tolle Lage
We have stayed on several occasions as my in-laws live nearby.
The staff are always friendly and helpful. The room is clean and comfortable. And the breakfast is great with a good choice.
The hallway just outside the toilets on the ground floor is rather smelly which is a shame
If I were being picky I would prefer a better quality yoghurt at breakfast.

Functional bar run by friendly staff member which offered a happy hour 5-7 which was an ideal meeting place for our group before venturing out in the evening
Checking in was a bit regimental... 3pm with no flexibility; at least four groups were awaiting check in ; I'm sure at least one of the rooms would have been available earlier.
Car parking had a poor system ; electric car spaces were left empty as no guests had electric cars whilst petrol car owners had to find parking elsewhere, in street or publc car park,regularly having to move there vehicle... there was no booking system for places which was unacceptable
Really lovely, friendly hotel that felt like an independent despite being badged as BW and I felt really welcome there. It's very handy for the town centre, the rooms at the back are quiet and the beds are super-comfortable, with enough light to read by. I was there as part of a choir singing in the cathedral over the weekend and I very much appreciated the fact that I could get a Sunday breakfast early enough to get to a 9am rehearsal (not all hotels do this!). I also like hotels like this where eggs are cooked fresh to order and everything else is buffet.
Although a double, the room would have been a bit cramped if there had been two people in it. The shower screen wasn't really adequate so every time I had a shower there was a huge puddle on the bathroom floor. (Probably more a problem for the hotel than for me!). The breakfast room was a bit gloomy, and small - but brightened up by very cheery staff!

I stayed here for a night to go in a Stonehenge after dark tour. The Stonehenge bus stops
is very close to the hotel, but stops running early in summer, however an uber wasn’t too expensive and only a 10-15 minute drive away.

The Merchant's House is an excellent hotel located a walkable distance - with a small bag or backpack - from the Salisbury train station. The in-town tourist bus top to Stonehenge is just a couple of blocks from the hotel, so there's no reason to return to the train station to take the tour. The rooms are comfortable and modern with good Wi-Fi. The staff is welcoming and helpful and the breakfast is superior to most I've had at English hotels in this price range. I highly recommend this hotel if you're planning a visit to Salisbury.

Very well-located and central. We were lucky and managed to get one of the free parking spots. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Fairly standard chain-hotel rooms with so-so beds and bedding - don't expect local inn charm. There was unfortunately a power outage on the whole street the morning of our stay, so we can't comment on their breakfast. However the hotel handled this situation very well by sending us to their sister-hotel for breakfast and refunding a portion of our stay.
