The Dolphin remains a welcoming old friend when we visit Whitby.
Pros:

Breakfast was good, as ever. We have stayed here many times, due its excellent central location and the views over the harbour from our room.

Cons:

The Dolphin is a busy venue, justifiably so. Inevitably some fittings or appliances may need attention between room bookings, difficult in the time available. Cleanliness is excellent.

Hotel sounded good on the internet but fell very short of expectations for the price paid
Pros:

Breakfast was ok. Breakfast service excellent
Bed clean and comfy but room ok but would benefit from a good clea

Cons:

Room not serviced where staying
Dirty towels in room when arrived
One of clean towels supplied was wet with a yellow stain on it
Clean towels supplied were in replacement were bath mats
Wardrobe smelt unclean,damp, so did not use
One of the widows in the room sign saying do not open as broken and awaiting repair. Widow opens over outside terrace so if opened and fell off what are consequences
One tea bag and no milk in room
Reception is at bar so when pub busy have to queue with those waiting for drinks and difficult to communicate as noisy sports pub
Terrace outside is very noisy and attracts parties
Room cold and no heating
Steps to get into pub, steps to toilets, stairs ti rooms and no lift so not limited mobility or disabled friendly
Internet non existent but apparently same in most of Whitby
Pub not serving food even though advertised as such

The room had the light fittings dangling dangerously. The shower head did not stay in position and the bed was extremely hard.

I would definitely stay here again 🥰
Pros:

Fabulous central location. Breakfast was delicious & the staff were lovely. I always love a pub stay, the character of the old buildings is in everything.
