Rodriquez greeted us with enthusiasm and professionalism. He wished us a Happy Mothers Day and asked to take our bags. He was genuine and courteous.
Never in my professional career have I had a valet leave the venue or the premises with the keys to my vehicle in his pocket. That is what happened in my stay at AC Hotel. The employee in question was next scheduled to work at 2pm the day of my departure. The search for this employee, so he could be called back to bring my keys, delayed my departure for two hours; that meant, my 10hr drive back to Indiana would have ended round midnight. As it was, I had to add an unplanned hotel stay to prevent driving while too tired to be safe. With the predictable ripple effect in my work life.
This dismal rating is about the hotel admin, whose contributions to solving this delimma were to suggest either to jailbreak my brand new vehicle or for me to take an Uber back home. To Indiana. Worse, when they finally tracked down the employee who took my car keys, he was totally unprofessional. No acknowledgement of the serious breach of protocol. He did not talk to me, he did not even make eye contact. He slouched in, hoodie up, sunglasses on, head down and went out the same way.
To add insult to injury, the hotel charged my credit card for an additional $50 after I had checked out. I did not touch the honor bar. I had not ordered any movies. I did not order room service. What is this mystery charge?! I will write for an itemized list.
To be clear, this low rating is not about the hotel support staff. They were excellent. My room was well-stocked with all the amenities. My server for breakfast was welcoming and friendly; she clearly knew the regular patrons by name. The front of house staff worked hard to resolve the problem of finding the night-shift valet who took my car keys with him when he left. The day-shift valet updated me every 15 minutes about progress on the problem of my missing car keys. When I informed the front desk that not all my keys had been returned, she took a description of the missing keys and my contact information, assuring me she would follow up.
It was filthy. Receptionist was sitting on the front bench that’s for customers. Hotel staff goofing off. And the vibe was horrible.
