I should start by saying that I’m not your typical luxury traveler, so I probably don’t have the right frame of reference. I should also note that I stayed here during the South African “winter,” so my review might be even more enthusiastic during other seasons.
I was thrilled
- by the layout and size of my room and the bathroom
- by the stylish, comfortable, and practical room furnishings
- by the bathroom amenities, which really have everything (and more) you could wish for (e.g., a shower and a freestanding bathtub)
- by the size and comfort of the bed
- by the minibar, which was restocked daily as if by magic (including gin and potato chips)
- by the bottle of fine Shiraz waiting in the room as a welcome drink
- by the breathtaking view of Franschhoek nestled in the valley, including the romantic sunset
- the lovely private balcony with an awning overlooking the small pool (for 5 units)
I was absolutely enchanted
- by the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, both at the front desk and in the restaurant
- by the culinary skills of the kitchen staff, both with the evening meals and at breakfast, which offered a wonderfully varied and lavish selection (there was nothing else I could have wished for)
- by the truly excellent wines produced on the estate (after an extensive personal wine tasting, I immediately bought bottles to take home
It may be that this kind of extravagant luxury—the kind that leaves nothing to be desired—is also available at other boutique hotels around the world, but I’m quite convinced that its unique location and breathtaking view set even a luxury hotel apart from the rest!
In my opinion, there’s really not much that could be improved:
- There are two small workstations, but neither has proper lighting. A small desk lamp would be fine.
- The bathroom is wonderfully spacious and open, which can create a thrilling or even erotic atmosphere (unfortunately, I was traveling alone), but I think the toilet should offer some privacy—both visually and in terms of odors...
- Unfortunately, the pool isn’t heated. But since daytime temperatures can be quite warm even during the South African winter, a refreshing dip would have been a real bonus (I was told that this is already being considered).
Incredible location nestled in the wine yards. Excellent food and wine. Phenomenal views from the rooms and the hotel areas.
Everything from the beautiful room to the staff, the complimentary coffee and cake, the delicious breakfast. We definitely recommend La Petite Ferme and we intend to return.

Equipe extremamente educada e solicita. Quartos bem limpos, instalações modernas e vista maravilhosa.
I loved the environment, the room, food.. i would say, everything was perfect. The best place to cut off from the world and relax.
Principalmente do pôr do sol.
Highly recommended.
Strategic position right outside the center for a more relaxed and quiet situation. Totally worth the cost.
Also had dinner and the restaurant was super.
