Character of building and location
Doors and keys a bit stiff
Lovely old building, beautifully decorated.
The food was disappointing. The lamb was very rare and chewy. It wasn’t cheap.
Staff and food was good
No air conditioning, fan in room but not comfortable at all. Wasn’t very clean, room and public areas
Very old and quaint
Put in top room not allowed to open windows in case birds came in fan broken we slept in our car
The location is handy for Peterborough and the bar and courtyard are comfortable. But there is traffic noise from the A1(M) motorway.
The staff are friendly though some are a little inexperienced in hospitality.
Two things disappointed.
We ate in the bar for dinner on the first night. Our meal was interrupted by blue bottle flies, two of which ended up in my glass of wine. I asked to speak to the Duty Manager who was unavailable (for a good reason). When I explained the issue to the waitress, she replied that they were aware of the problem. In which case why hadn't it been resolved? Blue Bottle flies are usualy attracted to decaying meat, not wine.
We didn't eat there again.
Our room was of an average size but over furnished. Heavy furniture, cluttered bedside tables and desk. We couldn't easily access the wardrobe and there was no room on the desk to place belongings. The desk has a kettle with mugs and tea etc. And a separate coffee machine with capsules and cups.
And one wall has wall plugs on display where, I assume, a picture once hung?
Finally, being on old coaching inn, there are lots of steps. Some would find this difficult to navigate.
Beautiful old coaching inn with masses of character . Obviously refurbished recently .lots of places to sit outside or in . Good food and drinks and attentive service
Nothing really . Room was hot but it was a heatwave and we had a fan

The beautiful courtyard
Too many steps and stairs
Friendly staff lovely clean room
Schönes altes Gebäude mit viel Charme. Super Frühstück und aufmerlsames Personal.
Petit déjeuner au top et en plus servi à table ( pas de self) dans une salle extraordinaire belle
Insonorisation des chambres
Nice hotel facilities.
Location, there was pra tically nothing else there.
Reception was friendly and helpful. The dinner menu was excellent and the food very good. The room was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was well organised and the choices good. I enjoyed my overnight stay and would stay longer with pleasure.
In general it was the perfect stay however the establishment is old and there are a lot of stairs so if there are mobility issues make sure the Inn knows when booking.
