Gwydyr Hotel

Positives -

Really friendly check in/bar staff. We were lucky and managed to get a space in the hotel car park, and nice that it was free. Nicely designed communal spaces, and clean throughout.

Negatives -

We booked a deluxe double, but when we got to the room we found it was very basic, set up as a twin and right on the junction of the busy roads. I did go back to reception to question the room and if it was a deluxe and was told that it was (Room 4). I was told it could be set up as a double if needed but it was already late, and it would have been 2 beds pushed together and not a double bed as in the photos.

Very deceiving as the photos shown on hotels.com as standard twin was our exact room, so either we were giving the wrong room type or the photos are incorrect.

The single beds were small and not the most comfortable to be honest and dipped in the middle.

Overall it was fine for 1 night but not being given the correct room was highly disappointing and ultimately meant we didn’t want to spend money on dinner or breakfast at the hotel.

Staff was great everyone went out of their way to treat you right. Place was a little dated but clean. Great base for sightseeing.

Had a parking lot which was great. Small single room but comfortable. Big enough bathroom with shower. Lots of electrical outlets. No safe or fridge. Dinner was okay. I wouldn’t eat here again but the hotel was clean and staff friendly.

Very central location to the village. Welcomed on arrival with easy check in and check out. Dinner was v good and bar staff friendly. Nice short stay this time but we hope to return for a longer stay next time

The hotel is very nice, and in a great location but on night 1, at 23:30 when we were trying to sleep, a huge amount of noise from the downstairs bar happened until 01:30am. It was so loud. We could not sleep and we had a 50 mile ultra marathon to run the next day.

So we managed to get some hours after the racket stopped. Dont know if it was guests or public or staff making the noise but it was very very loud.

After the ultra, we were trying to sleep on day 2 and at 00:30am the very same happened again.

I dont know what they do at this hotel but its very weird and odd how they expect people to sleep when this very loud lot of shouting, rowdyness, loutish behaviour is happening in the early hours.

Wont stay here again purely for the fact that youll never ever get a good nights sleep

We stayed at Gwydyr hotel for the night, the hotel itself was lovely, staff were really friendly, cocktails were great!

Manager uncooperative staff was highly bureaucratic

The location is great but the hotel standards are average at best. The room was tiny, dated, with no fridge and the most uncomfortable, tiny bed.
The bar area is nice but drinks prices are extortionate. The quality of restaurant food is very poor.
The best thing about the hotel were staff- very friendly, helpful and professional.

Had a great stay, everyone was sound and helpful. Food was good and would highly recommend to others

Smart comfortable hotel. Lovely rooms.

Breakfast is expensive for what provided - £15 a head. Would be better if breakfast included in room rate.

It was a lovely stay food drink all good but parking not good go out for day and come back and no were to park car.

Had a lovely stay. Linda, your hospitality was 5 stars, keep up the wonderful work you do! You were so welcoming from the minute we arrived and your kindest really left a lasting impression.

On site parking, managed to get a space which was good. The hotel is nice and clean. Room was small but good enough for 1 person. It had a chair and a luggage holder as well as multiple hooks on the wall + hangers which was convenient. It also had a smart TV which was good as some hotels don’t. So I was able to log into my Netflix account and watch my shows. (Remember to sign out if you do this) :)
It’s close to plenty of shops and restaurants which is good as they’re within walking distance.
I got room service and the food was delicious! (Specifically the Margarita Pizza + Sticky Toffee Pudding dessert).

Poor

The room is spacious and very bright. The bathroom is clean and the shower is nice. Convenient location and walkable distance to shops and restaurants.

Great location, awesome staff, clean and well-appointed.

Room was front of the property and noise from motorbikes/cars started at 6.30am

Stayed with a mate in a twin room so we could celebrate our 40ths exploring the area.
Excellent stay all round. Comfy and clean room, tasty breakfast, good bar, and friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more - thanks!

Great stay. Staff amazing, lovely rooms clean, tidy and well decorated/maintained. Location is amazing. Overall excellent.
