So gorgeous and the staff were amazing

Historic hotel that manages to keep the history, yet update the feel to modern expectations.
Lots of details that you only get at a hotel from the 1880's without it feeling outdated, old or that at one point it was a beautiful place.
Its clean, well kept and everything looks new... even though nobody has craftsmanship like this everywhere you look anymore.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel, the room was spacious and it felt very old world bohemian. The service was excellent, and we thought the location was good too, central for transport.

Exceptional property, amazing gym, great restaurants and lobby bar. Rooms are spacious and bathroom is amazing!

Very expensive and I have been several times before!!!! My room did not have a window, it was dark, on the first floor, I could hear music downstairs at night. I could not read because the lighting was so bad. I finally complained and the manager offered me 20 percent off and apologized . I left early !!! The manager also said we never put returning customers in that room, we made a mistake!!! Nobody should be in that room even for free. Location is great for me when visiting my daughter but the mangers lack of care was astoundng,he acted like oh well you are correct and just mouthed words!!!!! The hotel is so busy , he does not need to be accountable !!! I will never ever stay there again !!!!!! Totally not worth the money and does well in spite of poor leadership!!!! Don't waste your money!!!!

This is a historic property with a lot of character, definitely not a bland modern hotel. It was originally a housing cooperative, and still had some long-term tenants until fairly recently. We booked a 1-bedroom suite which actually felt like an apartment, with a full kitchen and a washer-dryer. That was a welcome opportunity to launder some clothes, though the dryer took forever. It was a fun change of pace from previous New York hotel stays. It would be even better for an extended stay where one might take advantage of the fully stocked kitchen to prepare meals. That said, the aesthetic is fairly dark and old, which we didn’t love - this comes down to personal preference.
The kitchen was restocked daily with an impressive array of complimentary snacks including gourmet chocolate bars, which was awesome, plus they welcomed us with a plate of macarons and a bottle of wine. Service was good, as was breakfast at the restaurant. The location is fantastic, with two different subway lines at either end of the block, and a third line a block further away, making it very easy to get around.

Wow!! We ended our night at Hotel Chelsea with a bottle of orange wine and absolutely loved it.

We went with locals who said this was one of their favorite spots for a cool late-night drink, and it totally delivered. The atmosphere was amazing and had that classic, effortlessly cool New York feel.

We also grabbed the fries and warm cookies, which were such a fun addition and hit the spot late at night.

One of my favorite parts was that it made us feel like we got to experience the city a little more like locals instead of tourists. Such a great spot and an awesome way to end the night!

Excellent location in Chelsea updated with an exceptional nod to the Hotel's vibrant history throughout, from room decor and backstories to the multiple restaurants/bars. I love a hotel with windows that actually open. Next time we'll try the rooftop spa. Though rooms aren't large, they are amply supplied with luxury touches. Highly recommend.

Convenient

This was our first visit to The Chelsea. It was wonderful. Friendly staff and gorgeous rooms. The hotel has so much character and history. We are already planning to stay next year!

We returned last week from our second stay the The Hotel Chelsea. Our first visit was shortly after the remodel/reopening of the hotel and we loved it so much that we came back this year to celebrate our anniversary. Waiting for us in the room was a card and a bottle of wine. We enjoyed room service breakfast several times and we also explored many of the floors to look at the art. The front desk along with all the employees we ran into each day were very friendly and extremely helpful. We can't wait to return.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Chelsea. The staff consistently went above and beyond, but what really stood out was their thoughtfulness during our visit. We were in town for a cycling event and had our bikes stored at the hotel—each time we needed them, the bell staff were incredibly helpful retrieving and returning them without hesitation.

After our ride, we came back to a handwritten note from the front desk congratulating us, along with treats waiting in our room. It was such a personal and unexpected gesture, and it made the whole experience feel truly special.

This is hospitality at its best—warm, attentive, and genuine. This is why we always stay at Hotel Chelsea.
