The location, the facilities, the friendly staff, the massage with Mel was very good, the bed was very comfortable and the air-conditioning was very welcome.
Beautifully situated, just metres from the beach, the location is absolutely perfect for a peaceful getaway and the views are gorgeous! All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, the facilities are great and the shuttle service into town is really convenient. Would absolutely stay again.
Wonderful location
We got a sense things may not be as advertised when the overzealous security guard made claim to being the concierge (his lanyard and clipboard protested otherwise).
That, sadly, was a high point.
We dragged our bags through the liminal ‘beach club’ area with its piped music emanating from a lonely speaker to reach reception, where the generic yet tired decor leapt out to take centre stage.
The friendly receptionist showed us to our room as we wound our way around an endless, heavily photo framed hallway (it must be a Guinness record).
Yet it was upon entering the stairway where the interesting combo of feet and fried chicken smell really came into its own.
The hotel felt tired. In need of a rest. Like a hot pregnant cat who’d already suffered the indignity of many previous litters.
In the room, they left us some gin in a large glass vase and a sullen Romanian gentleman soon came to demand entry for the bucket of ice he was touting. No tonic though… that’s where these smooth operators get you.
No complaints about the room… perhaps except for the “valley view”, which had cleverly disguised itself as a static caravan park for our stay.
We perused the spa area. A perfectly overpowering, industrial bleach smell ruined by a swimming pool.
Dinner was rather nice. After all, who wouldn’t enjoy paying £20 for a plain Caesar salad.
As we left the next day, we turned back in wonder. Never before have we paid so much and been so eager to leave. I would absolutely recommend, but for all the wrong reasons.
Great but think cost of stay should include cooked breakfast option if wanted.
Didn’t like the fact they added £50 per night (refundable)… why? Felt unnecessary. Also didn’t agree with service charge on drink being ordered at bar. Accept restaurant would apply a service charge.
The staff very friendly polite nothing to much trouble. Well worth going to
Lovely leisure facilities and a great location
Extra charge for cooked breakfast
Lovely Hotel modern whilst still retaining the charm of Devon with a lovely Spa as well
Staff very helpful and accommodating especially Wendy in the restaurant who went out of her way to make our stay even more enjoyable -will visit again
Over rated, they believe their own publicity
Most staff average, cleanliness poor, food good, menu boring and not changed during a week’s stay
Great views lovely hotel
Week day prices still a little pricey
Stunning location, we appreciated the curtesy shuttle going into Salcombe.
Nothing
Bedroom was beautiful & close to a beach
Pool & jacuzzi areas lacked atmosphere or any luxury. The tiles/grout & window around jacuzzi area was dirty. After going to lots of spas this was lacking. The balcony in the room was dirty, old cobwebs & lots of bird poo. The loungers around the pond were dirty.
