Categories

Cleanliness
7.5
Generally described as clean, fresh and modern in several reviews, but there are maintenance/cleanliness concerns (mould on top of walls, dirty/sticky marks in a room, stray hair on bedding) that lower the score slightly.
Service
8.3
Staff repeatedly praised as friendly, cheerful and attentive (several named staff highlighted and breakfast host noted as an asset). However, restaurant service issues, long waits and occasional billing/refund problems reduce the score from excellent to very good.
Location
8.8
Multiple mentions of an ideal and convenient location (good for walking dogs and convenient to destinations); location and local walks are clear positives.
Room Quality
8
Beds are frequently described as comfortable and rooms as spacious/fresh with air conditioning. Some negatives include noisy/clunky air-con, low water pressure, no fridge, limited hangers and missing bathroom shelving.
Amenities
7.4
Bar and breakfast areas are positives and rooms have air-con, but there are notable amenity issues: lifts out of order multiple times, parking fees/credit-card parking charge, overflowing outdoor bins and lack of in-room fridge or adequate bathroom shelving.
Value for Money
6.5
Several guests felt the room price was higher than competitors and were unhappy about additional charges (parking fee, surcharges for some menu items and a 10% extra for dietary variations), so value is a weak point.
Food and Beverage
7.5
Breakfast is often described as good and bar pricing reasonable, but the restaurant offering and execution are inconsistent (limited variety, cold items like beans, a poor curry dish report and long waits for meals).
Overall Experience
9.2
Overall stays are described as enjoyable with very friendly staff, comfortable beds and a convenient location; operational issues (slow restaurant service, occasional lift outages and some maintenance/cleanliness matters) temper this, but the positive staff and comfort lead to a strong overall impression.

Breakfast to die for..
Pros:

Breakfast was fantastic for the money, staff were attentive and extremely helpful.

Cons:

The room although clean and comfortable had damp on the walls throughout which could potentially have caused a health hazard had l stayed longer.

Pros:

Everything!!

The chocolate cookies at check in, the room, the breakfast and particularly the staff.

Alice on reception gave a great recommendation of a country pub for dinner, supplied water for our room and was extremely welcoming. At breakfast the duty manager and "food" lady worked tirelessly to keep the quality food fully stocked.

Probably the best Ibis we have stayed in.

Cons:

Can't think of anything.
