The hotel is nice enough but, having asked for a quiet room, I was woken at 3 am by loud banging and scraping of furniture below my room which went on for an hour
Food was exceptional
The bedrooms were great, big , modern and very well appointed. Great attention to detail. A very pleasant surprise!
We arrived on Friday and stayed three nights. The room was excellent, clean and spacious. The hotel is right in the middle of Dorchester, with parking. We dined in the restaurant each night in addition to breakfast. The food is really great & suffering from an intolerance, I was catered for, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend the Kings Arms. Katie
Lovely original hotel in the old town of Dorchester, lived up to expectation and a easy restful start to exploring Thomas Hardy 's countrside.
Location super, right in town centre, rooms comfortable, clean and roomy.
Car park at back great asset.
Nothing, it was short stay, arrived 10pm left 8-30am so didn’t see much, but all very good 👍
Great place to stay whilst working away from home. This will be the fifth time I've used the hotel and would highly recommend. Great service and friendly staff.
We had a lovely stay at the King's Arms, service was excellent, as was dinner. The room was lovely and really well appointed, best shower I've ever had in a hotel by far!
We were a reunion of 8 at the Kings Arms, none of us having been there before. We were delighted by the hotel itself, its ambience, its facilities and by the staff who worked there.
We had an enjoyable dinner at the hotel on our first night, slightly marred for 2 of us by the unannounced substitution of one fish by another, but that was sorted out satisfactorily. The breakfast was comprehensive and to suit all palates and dietary requirements.
The bedroom had all the facilities we needed, particularly the small low level illumination which came on automatically when using the bathroom at night so as not to disturb the sleeping partner.
There is adequate parking on site (although we came by train).
Lovely stop over in the Kings Arms, very friendly staff, comfy room full of extra touches. Great to have parking behind the hotel right in the centre.
Good location, room was quiet (we were not on the main road but down the side of the hotel), no view, but will sacrifice that for a good nights sleep. Room/hotel was very clean/chambered. B/fast was well appointed with some of the more unusual choices (ie kippers - excellent!). Devilled kidneys would take it up a level!!! One of the best bars in town - could do with a better selection of real ales - but the kegs were good. Not cheap but good VFM based on performance, cost and time.
Every part of the hotel is beautiful. Room superb. Ever member of staff from reception to bar to catering were so friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this boutique hotel to anyone and would not look anywhere else to stay if we were visiting Dorchester again . Thankyou so much for a wonderful stay . ♥️
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the King's Arms in Dorchester. We received a warm welcome when we got to reception and that followed through to the whole of our stay. We took our dog and they were very accommodating. We will be back again
I stayed for 3 nights as part of a group of 6. The hotel is beautifully restored; both the public spaces and the rooms offer a perfect blend of historic character and modern comforts. If you appreciate interior design, you'll enjoy this hotel! The staff were friendly and unfailingly helpful, and the food (breakfast, nibbles, and dinners) was excellent. I will definitely stay here again.
Car park great and good position
All the staff we interacted with from reception, events, housekeeping, bar, restaurant across the whole hotel were polite, efficient and helpful.
Julian and team really made the family meal in the Casterbridge room run so smoothly and admire his incredible patience with us all. It was a heatwave and our bedroom didn’t have air con so only minor downside.
