I travel a lot--never for work--but my kids and I tagged along while my husband had a work conference. This is a very "adult" hotel in terms of vibes, but my kids and I LOVED it. It might be one of my top 5 hotels ever for the lounge and pool experience. We paid extra for the lounge and for $80/day, it was by far the best money spent all trip! Breakfast was amazing, and they even had cookies/sweets out in the afternoon before appetizers. It was great just to have soda/water options.
The design of this hotel is great. Everything is vertical, so just take the elevator wherever you want to go and it's not a far walk. Our room was lovely, just a basic double.
Pool- it's heated! I didn't expect this in Florida but the first day we were there it was super windy (almost cold) the pool was actually warm.
Everything was clean and the staff was wonderful. There were just a handful of other children but we actually loved that because my elementary/middle school-aged kids got the pool to themselves! It was quiet and peaceful, although there were several conferences going on--not too noisy, and everyone was respectful.
My husband and I also visited the rooftop bar one night and it was lovely. It's nicer, so not shorts/t-shirt.
Would ABSOLUTELY return! We normally stay at H&att properties with points. We stayed here 2 nights then at a H&att property after the conference to save money and use points, but if I wanted to hang at the hotel more, we definitely would have booked this place for longer!!
***downside- price of parking, but we found a garage nearby that was much cheaper.
***downside- lounge only open Sunday afternoon, I think, to Friday morning. We stayed during the week but on a weekend that would be a huge bummer!
I don't like to write negative reviews but there seems to be a complete disconnect between the management and the staff in the hospitality areas.
The hotel itself is generic and dull. The rooms are clean and adequate but lacking in any flair or quality. It's acceptable for one night or two of a business trip but certainly not a destination for anything more. The quality of the linens and towels is sub par.
However the standard of service and food in the restaurants both in this location and the Marriott across the road is so poor that it beggars belief. The staff seem to think that they are better than their customers and are incapable of managing any inquiries in a reasonable, polite manner . I would not recommend any of the restaurants.
As a Titanium/Platinum Elite member, I understand and respect that policies and benefits may vary by property. However, my recent experience was disappointing due to a communication breakdown regarding an open cabana usage without a reserve sign.
Prior to using the cabana while waiting for our ordered food and drinks, I specifically asked to speak to management if we needed to move and was given approval. Unfortunately, while using the cabana for an hour just to eat lunch, pool staff later contacted management and I felt as though I was being questioned or accused of using the space improperly despite already obtaining authorization.
What made this experience frustrating was not the policy itself, but the lack of internal communication and consistency between staff and management. As both a loyal guest and someone familiar with hospitality standards, clear communication and guest handling make a significant difference.
I do want to recognize the staff members who attempted to assist, but I hope management can improve internal communication to avoid placing guests in uncomfortable situations after approval has already been provided.
Breakfast was not good value and service was excessively slow.
Lighting in the bathroom was awful.
Excellent
Every thing
Very Courteous staff, great location.
No issues.
We stayed at this hotel due to the 2026 Wine Spectators Grand Tour Wine Tasting Event. As Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite members, we got a nice view of the water and free breakfast the next morning. We found the check-in efficient as we did mobile check in originally and asked for early check-in online. Upon arrival, we checked in early at the front desk and we were informed our room was ready. The room was modern, clean, and had great views. The pool area was spacious with available cushioned chaises. JW Marriott has a rooftop bar with great views at night. The service staff at the bar were friendly and accommodating to our numerous requests. In the morning, the Breakfast was a generous spread of cold and hot items, as well as made to order items included with the price of the buffet.
The location of this hotel was great, close to the river walk and was connected via bridge to the Marriott next door. That provided more access to different restaurants.
The Conference center on the second floor was spacious and accommodated over 1000 plus attendees for the Wine tasting. We found the food served during the event to be delicious and the overall setup very well organized.
Parking Tip - Overnight parking is additional $55 per night. However, right behind JW Marriott is a self parking garage for only $18, but no in and out access. Literally just a walkway separating the JW Marriott garage and the public garage.
This was a breakdown in both service and accountability.
We arrived at 10pm after a full day of travel with a confirmed reservation, only to be told at the desk that my rate would not be honored due to a “policy” applied selectively at check-in. No viable solution was offered.
At that point, I had no choice but to leave and secure another hotel, late at night, exhausted, and without having eaten.
Despite refusing to honor the reservation, the property still charged me for the night.
I’ve followed up multiple times with Marriott Bonvoy and have been told that only this location can resolve the issue and I should expect a call. Six weeks later, there has been no response from their management (Front Office Manager R. Little?).
This reflects poorly not just on the property, but on the standards I expect from Marriott.
Breakfast? We didn't get breakfast. We didn't have any food
Do not like having to pay to park each day. Closing the pool bar at 4:45 in the afternoon is ridiculous but thankfully we brought drinks & didn't have to pay $153 for 12 Hard Seltzer/ Beer
Everything. Location was great.
I liked everything.
0 empatía. Una lástima .
He sido socio de Marriott mucho tiempo este lugar no
Lo recomiendo. No caigas en reservar este lugar . Si por alguna razón pasa algo no tienen consideración
Great place a little pricey, weak wifi, and cable TV. Fodd at steakhouse is very good
We had the most wonderful experience at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Strret. We booked this hotel because it was within walking distance of the arena in Tampa for a hockey game. But, the experience that we had at this hotel was amazing. The front desk personnel were very inviting and accommodating. A special shout out for Ivana (the front desk manager)Ramandeep who checked us in and Yaneth the director They made our stay even better, we will definitely go back to this hotel.
..The room was clean and comfortable. The rooftop bar was beautiful, especially at night. The pool area on the sixth floor was very relaxing and we had lunch at the pool restaurant. I would recommend the grouper open face sandwich.
If you are going to any event at the arena do yourself a favor and stay at this hotel!!!
Location location location

Ubicación , estética , servicio
No tiene posibilidad de desayuno buffet solo a la carta
Not sure why every jw I have been to you can’t get a seat by pool after 9am. Also Not sure the vibe they are going for this one but it seems intentional . No music .
If you’re looking for a fun place with a fun pool, more space save yourself some money and stay at Marriott across the street.
The good news is you get access to both staying at jw .
Great location, friendly staff, nice amenities
Thought it was slightly overpriced but understand it is in a city.
