The room was beautiful and clean. The food and the service at the restaurant was great
Everything was great
We booked this hotel for the Fourth of July long weekend and left disappointed. As Titanium Elite members, my husband and I appreciated the upgrade to an Executive Suite, which was spacious and well maintained, but that’s where the positives ended.
The service was consistently poor. The rooftop bar was overpriced, we noticed shattered glass near the construction side of the building, and the last-minute changes to the destination fee benefits only added to the frustration. To top it off, we were overcharged for breakfast despite using our complimentary Titanium breakfast vouchers, and the front desk refused to fix the bill.
This stay completely took the shine off a holiday we’d been looking forward to. Based on our experience, I can’t recommend this Westin.
I had a FANTASTIC stay at the Westin Tempe! Beautiful views, a spectacular suite and a vivacious rooftop pool and bar have me excited to come back!
I first want to acknowledge the parking since I know the valet cost is a an issue. I did self parking at the Brickyard Parking Garage for $16 for 24 hours which was a 3 minute walk across a side street and down a short flight of stairs. I found it super convenient and would recommend it to anyone looking to skip valet.
The lobby was nice, very clean and open with high ceilings and a comfortable sitting area. Austin got me checked in quickly and hooked up with their welcome package that included two free margaritas at the rooftop bar Skysill, two free cups of coffee or tea at their coffee shop and two free smoothies from Terra their restaurant on the 1st floor.
I stayed in one of their Executive Suites With Mountain View and when I say the room took my breath away, I actually gasped!! It was more than I could hope for with beautiful views overlooking Tempe and Phoenix in both the living room and bedroom, a big comfy bed, a nice sized table to get work done at and a beautiful bathroom complete with a spacious shower and luxurious soaking tub! The room also came with bathrobes, complementary water bottles in the mini fridge, wine glasses and a corkscrew. I really loved being able to relax knowing everything was thought out!
The rooftop bar and pool was beautiful, again with breathtaking views. The welcome margarita was good and strong but the Hibiscus Paloma was a show stopper! I also really enjoyed the rooftop patio the next morning when I took my laptop up to enjoy the sunrise over the city while getting my work day started.
My morning was a breeze, enjoying beautiful views, my complimentary tea and smoothie but the standout of my stay was Aneesa at concierge. I had a last minute schedule change for a meeting that left me stressed for time to checkout and make my meeting but Aneesa saved the day when, without hesitation, she moved my checkout time back so I could complete my Teams call in the privacy of my room and not feel rushed to leave. I only ended up needing 30 extra minutes but I can't thank her enough for giving me that extra hour! It's people like her who keep me coming back somewhere and I'm happy to say I've already recommended this hotel to a few friends and work colleagues.
A couple places I feel the hotel may have room for improvement on is stocking additional amenities for the bath like epsom salts or bubble bath and the windows of my room could have been cleaner but those little things really didn't bother me much at all. Honestly, I just walked across the street to the 24hr CVS and bought some bubble bath after my drinks and enjoyed a nice relaxing soak, it was perfect!
I've definitely found my new go to hotel in Tempe! Thank you Westin Tempe and Team for taking care of me and again, thank you Aneesa, you're a true MVP!
Great area great drinks
No parking had to pay $50 overnight valet fee
The location and amenities were great.
Only one elevator working during much of ASU graduation weekend. Walking 11 flights almost did my husband and daughter in.
great property. horrible customer service
What should have been a simple short work stay turned into a very unpleasant experience. The property itself is well-kept, but the service fell well short of the Westin standard
From check-in, the front desk felt unwelcoming, which I could have overlooked. The bigger issue was a problem with the room that needed a manager’s attention. A number of items were not properly stocked, the room simply did not feel up to Westin standards, and the poor soundproofing only made things worse. There was nonstop noise coming from the adjacent room. The associate helping me was not able to resolve it, which was understandable, but when a manager was needed, a manager named Danielle or Daniella briefly stopped by, said she was in a meeting, and promised to follow up afterward. She never did.
That was the most disappointing part. It was not just the unresolved issue, but the complete lack of follow-through and accountability. At a Marriott property, especially as a Titanium member, I expected basic professionalism and some level of care. Instead, the front desk management came across as dismissive, unhelpful, and uninterested in resolving a straightforward guest concern.
It is a shame, because the property itself has potential. But poor management and a lack of respect for guests made this a very unpleasant stay, and I would not return. Based on this experience, the management company appears to be failing this property, and in turn letting the Marriott and Westin brands down.
I would strongly recommend choosing another hotel if you’re visiting Tempe—better yet, look at properties in Scottsdale, which offer a far higher level of service.
My experience with The Westin Tempe was extremely disappointing. I booked a two-night stay through Booking.com but accidentally selected May instead of April for a business trip. As soon as I realized the mistake, I contacted Booking.com and was advised that the hotel could authorize a refund.
I immediately rebooked the correct April dates at the same hotel and completed a two-night stay, which made the situation even more frustrating. While the front desk staff were courteous in person, the Front Desk Manager ultimately refused to approve a refund—despite the May reservation still being weeks away and likely to be resold.
As someone who works in public relations and travels extensively, I found this to be a clear example of poor customer service and inflexibility. Based on my experience—and similar feedback I’ve since seen from other guests—this appears to reflect a broader issue with how this property handles customer concerns.
There are many hotels in the area that value their guests and demonstrate it through fair and reasonable policies. I would encourage travelers to consider those options instead.
Just had a very frustrating stay at The Westin Tempe. The main issue was the poor service and intolerable level of noise. As several other reviewers had pointed out, and as I sadly got to experience myself, this hotel is NOISY. There was a DJ playing nonstop loud music on the rooftop well past midnight over the weekend, and the level of disturbance was so loud and intolerable that it could be heard on different floors. My friends and I stayed on different floors, and we all heard the same noise, if you can even call that music. It was so disruptive and made it impossible to sleep after a long day. There was no courtesy notice, let alone any warning, about this kind of late-night party in advance. Had we known about it, we would have stayed elsewhere for sure.
What made our experience even worse was the lack of care from management, or rather the complete absence of it. There were no senior or experienced managers available, and Danielle, the front desk manager, did not seem to care about the well-being of her guests at all. Not only was Danielle unhelpful, but instead of trying to find a solution and listening to the guests’ concerns, responding and speaking with empathy, she seemed to prefer coming across as strong and combative when all we wanted was a restful night’s sleep. I cannot understand how she was placed in a management position when she seemed more interested in arguing with guests than resolving any issue. It was so disappointing to see this kind of approach and hostile attitude from someone who serves as the face of the Westin hotel in Tempe. This really shows how much the hotel’s management cares about its guests and how this property is being run by this team. Overall, it was an awful stay. I cannot recommend this property.
The Westin is excellent. This is the third time we stayed here and absolutely love it. The rooms are beautifully appointed, well laid out, roomy, and very clean. The staff is attentive and friendly. Everything is within walking distance and if you get one of the higher levels, the view is amazing, day and night.
I'll add one photo of something I particularly appreciated. Instead of fix mounted against a wall, the sturdy desk/table sits on rollers, so you turn it towards the window and enjoy the view or towards the TV, while your working.
Good location to everything. Parking garage across the street.
Pricey. Wanted more money to check in early and more money to check out late. The elevators kept breaking, literally all 3 were not working. Got so bad, had an employee take us to a service elevator to use after we stood waiting forever for the elevator. No sign saying they weren’t working. The coffee shop, which sells Starbucks always was sold out of everything and they basic coffee which we were given 2 cards for a free coffee or tea there was so bad it made me sick with diarrhea! They just need to do WAY better with a lot of things for the price the charge!
Location and facilities.
Loud construction and rooftop parties until 1200 am.
The Westin Tempe offers a great, relaxing and convenient business or personal travel option in the heart of Tempe's University district. Convenient walking to restaurants and businesses in the area. Rideshare has to access carefully through construction area but isn't inconvenient or delayed. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffee available on the first floor.
Came to ASU for my daughter’s music audition. I figured the Westin was a standard business/family hotel type option. But from the minute we arrived it felt like we were crashing a frat party. Drunk kids stumbling around in the hall at 8 pm. We went down to the (mediocre) restaurant to get some food and it was impossible to get an elevator upstairs afterwards because there were just tons of students using all the elevators to get to the rooftop club. I don’t know if it was a special event or what, but honestly it feels like Vegas and it is kind of overwhelming. I get that it’s a college town and everything but we just weren’t expecting this kind of scene for a high stakes weekend. Maybe it’s helpful for my kid to realize that even if the music program here is great, ASU has a certain reputation for a reason…
