Business hotel in good location but not suitable for a prolonged stay.
Pros:

We travelled to Edinburgh for the Military Tattoo. We chose the Moxy Edinburgh because of its location close to the Castle area and the city. It was walking distance and on good bus routes. The bed was comfortable but had a slippery mattress cover under the bottom sheet!
Reception was open 24/7 and the staff were all very courteous.

Cons:

Room was small and compact. There were 4 hangers for clothing but no drawers or other storage so we had to live out of our suitcase for the 3 days we were there. There was just one fitted seat unit plus a pouffe and only one bedside table. The bathroom was tiny, like a cupboard! The carpets looked tired and worn.
The room was not cleaned or made up after the first night. When we mentioned this we were told it was only done after we had been there 3 nights unless we requested it! Which we did. We had to chase housekeeping staff for top ups of coffee, milk etc for the room.
The buffet breakfast was served in reception and was a bit of a free-for-all. Grab food then find a table……It had good cereal choices and hot food. However one morning they ran out of butter and on another the scrambled eggs ran out too. Overall it was very expensive for the room and facilities offered.

Listed amenities missing, and housekeeping skipped a day
Pros:

We stayed three nights in the Moxy Extra Sleeper room, booked for three people. The location is good and the common areas are pleasant, but several things didn't match the listing and the service slipped.

The listing includes a wardrobe or closet. There was none — no hanging rail of any kind. What we had were two narrow pegboard grids with hooks, not even positioned next to each other. For three people with luggage in a 21 m² room, there was nowhere to hang or store clothes. A socket near the bed is also listed as a facility; one of the two didn't work. One of the two mirror lights in the bathroom was out as well.

The listing describes both a sofa and a sofa bed. In practice, the third sleeping space is a single armchair-width fold-out, not a sofa. If you're booking for three on the strength of that description, that's what you're getting, and the room is very tight once it's open.

Housekeeping was the worst of it. On day two the room wasn't serviced at all — nobody came during the morning while we were out, and when housekeeping arrived around 4pm we were getting ready to go out and asked if they could come back a little later. Nobody returned, so we had unmade beds and no fresh towels for the night. On day three the beds were made, but the sheets and pillowcases hadn't been ironed.

I know Moxy is a pared-back brand and I wasn't expecting a minibar. But amenities that are explicitly listed should exist, and a serviced room with fresh towels isn't an extra.
