Shared location for Garden Inn and Homewood Suites. Nice hotel(s) if you must stay in this area.
Pros:

First off it’s helpful to know that this is a shared location with both the Garden Inn (HGI) and Homewood Suits (HS) at the same address. This was initially confusing since although they do have some common and shared assets like the 3 parking lots and the front desk, other attributes like dining areas and room styles are different. It’s sensed that the Garden Inn caters to shorter stays while the Suites may be better suited for longer or family stays. The 2 properties are listed completely separately on the Hilton, Trip Advisor and other platforms.

Note that they charge for parking. I think around $13-night at the time of my stay for the HGI. I do not know if HS charges the same rates at HGI. The HGI was not running their buffet breakfast during my stay although it’s listed on the menu. Despite the lack of an HGI buffet, the breakfast menu and kitchen are very good with both traditional and New Mexico breakfast items available. Most important, is that the breakfast waitstaff. specifically Osiris and David, are exceptional servers and neat people! Later in the day the breakfast seating area becomes a bar and they have a nice happy hour and then a bar scene for hotel residents that runs till about 10 pm.

If you must stay in this area on Central Ave, which can be sketchy, then this property is a good choice compared to various nearby alternatives. The fitness room is well maintained since running in the immediate area may be challenged to due busy traffic and other conditions. The hotel is about 4 years old so the hotel is still fairly new and in good shape. There is on-site outside security in the evening and a room key (or desk attendant) is needed to enter the property at night. The property seemed well maintained and clean. That said, I had a horribly loud air conditioner and regret not switching rooms sooner. It turned out that the air conditioner in my room needed parts that were apparently on order. The new room was better by 10 dB (I am a nerd and downloaded an App to check noise level (measured to be the equivalent of a loud vacuum at the bed distance) just to be sure I wasn’t just being difficult). Had I not had the air-con noise deal that kept me up two nights, despite earplugs on night 2, and lack of a buffet for an oatmeal option, I probably would have rated this stay higher since the desk staff and previously mentioned servers were great plus the overall property was very nice. By the way, the Homewood Suites at the same location is understood to still have a breakfast buffet at their dining area upstairs from the HGI dining area that is at ground level.

Property is nice, but the safety issue needs to be addressed.
Pros:

Convenient to where we wanted to be. Priced right. Fairly new. Beds were comfy.

Cons:

All but one door to the property was locked from the inside as well as the outside. The door that did open was an electric door with a sensor to open and close. This is a fire and safety hazard. I understand the need for security, but doors should be locked to prevent people coming in, but never people going out. In the event there was a fire or other emergency, there is only one exit for the hotel. This is illegal as well as unsafe. If the electric goes out, the one door will not open. No one will be able to get. Please change this policy.

Pros:

Flying solo for 1 night, this hotel was perfect. Great staff, nice snack/beverage choices, onsite restaurant and bar. Food was excellent (dinner & breakfast) and the servers were so kind and helpful. Can’t recommend this place enough, well done.

Will stay again if I need heart surgery
Pros:

Near the NM Heart Hospital where I had heart surgery. No free breakfast but a microwave, coffee maker, and fridge in the room. Friendly, helpful staff. Security for our vehicle was excellent and helpful.

Cons:

The hot rods on the streets drove around day and night with loud engines.
